Default Has anyone used a patched tire at the track? Infineon this weekend?

Well I got some new wheels and tires but I still have the Dunlop Rs for the track. Well I had one of them patched because there was a nail in one.

I am going to Infineon Raceway this weekend and I am wondering if anyone has used a patched tire at the track.

BTW anyone else going to be out there?

Default A patched tire is unsafe for track use

If noted, the car with a patched/plugged tire would fail the tech inspection.

More importantly, it's just not safe.

If the tire is patched with a "plug patch" from the inside, it should be just fine....

As long as you keep it under 60 on the track LOL!!!

Seriously, try to get a replacemnt. A blowout or some sort that puts you in a wall will suck.

Absolutely no doubt about it........blow-outs that put you into a wall, do suck.

why risk it. if it blows up, you will contact wall since you are driving sears point.

Well what happens if you driving to the track and you get a nail what would you do bag the nice track weekend : (. If it happens to me I get it plugged from inside and still go. Ideally of coarse better to have spares if your trailering : ). Mike

HPDE 2 I think. I thought about doing the TT there for fun but the open passing might be a little much at that place. I wouldn't mind at Thunderhill but side by side in the esses would be a little much for me in the 996.

Which leads me to my next question...Can I get a tech inspection that morning or do I have to do it before?

You can do it there but I remember there's a fee for that I think like $40 but to make sure go to their website and inquire(went with NASA at T-hill last time and they had tech there). Group 1/2 grouped together(most of the time) so expect some conga lines forming-best cure just get off to hot pit where black flag station is and go again. Even with group 4(open passing)-most if not all don't try to pass at the esses : ). Regards. Mike PS-November 10(thurs) with NASA only hpde group 2/3/4- 7- 20 minute sessions for $179 : ).

This is the very reason I take a second set of wheels/tires with me in the Pepper to the track. Don't want to run with the street wheel/tires but at least I can finish the day! Albeit at modified speed but who cares, it is still fun!!!!
