I bought this 996 just over a year ago
Within the last year: IMS solution, clutch, flywheel, AOS, plugs/coil packs, timing chain tensioners and all fluids.
Fuel injectors, waterpump and low temp thermostat next month
I appreciate this car more every day!
My 208000km 1998 (build October 1997) 3.4 C2. Had a new M96/01AT short block engine at 198000km changed at Porsche Center Norway (in sum between 1997-2021 there have been spent USD30.000,- on this car). I will change the transaxle, gearbox with a Porsche rebuild with only 15000km I have bought from Rob van Zweeden in Netherlands (www.v-zweeden.com), pluss install a Numeric shifter incl the numeric cables from Design911. I also ordered a 917 tribute **** from Manuel Campuzano. The Carrera III Super Stars rims will be repaired for side chips and powder coated dark grey/black and have fresh new tires fitted. I bought the car in may this year, it had 199000km, so I have been quite active driving this this through the summer, because the care have been stored without practical zero use since the engine swap back in 2019. Original engine was pulled due to some kind of disaster. By the look of things (see picture below) I guess something oil related blow up. I did a complete coolant system flush and clean and refill at Porsche Classic Center Norway in June, now I have a thin chocolate shake lyer in my coolant tank. Will have it re flushed and cleaned next week hoping this is only remains from the engine change (fingers crossed). I will also have the AOS and oil cooler checked for leakage and bad seals. For sure I'm thinking to could be "cracked head"... but since the new engine have the old heads that was cleaned, inspected and planned by a racing engine shop (subvendor of Porsche Norway) I'm actually not willing to accept this early that my heads are cracked.
The darkened headlights look amazing on your car. I just sold my black ‘00 911 CAB to one of my neighbors. I think he’d be interested in knowing how you did this mod if you don’t mind sharing. 🙏
Thanks. I love the amber up front. To me, it’s part of what makes my ‘99 C2 a ‘99 C2, and who knows; it may eventually prove to be one of the things that impacts its future value.
