Default Question for BullBear or anyone with + 02 C-Wing

Hey everyone, I need some quick help!

BullBear, I have shamelessly used your picture because it is perfect for my question (you might be able to help).

For the Stock Carrera Wing shown in the picture, the 99-01 kit came only with the rear wing, while the 02+ came with both a rear wing and a front lip spoiler. I need a picture of the front lip spoiler asap. I hear that it is very short (around 2 feet long) rather than the full length "Aerokit II style" lip spoiler. Do you have this spoiler on your car? If so, can you please post a pic for me?

Grateful in advance for all help.

TD, u r going to be disappointed as in my understanding, the Carrera wing is sold by itself. So I don't even know if this front spoiler that u talked about even exist! Is this spoiler for the std front bumper for 02'+? If so, I'd be interested too as I always feel the std front bumper is missing something.

Todd....I don't have a picture but the part number for the wing AND lip is 000 044 802 04 and the wing by itself is 996 512 903 00 G2X. The lip they are referring to is 996 505 986 02 G2X. It might be the one made for the standard spoiler since I bought the supercup lip and it is 996 505 986 92.

Looks like the lip in the following picture.....

Dell, now I have a question... The lip in the picture is obviously for a GT3 or aero kit II front bumper right? Are u saying the lip (996 505 986 02 G2X) looks like the one for the GT3 but fits the regular bumper for 02'+?

I have never seen a regular 02'+ bumper with a lip. Anyone got one? pics?

thanks in advance

I don't have a standard lip spoiler pic. My best guess is that is it very similar to the one on the GT3 lip just tailored to fit the std spoiler. Best place to ask would be Loren over at Renntech.org since he has a lot of schematic pics, etc.

Bullbear,

LV Dell is right! There is a separate lip that is specifically made to be used with your wing and the stock bumper for 02 or newer cars. The older 996s did not need one. Dell, I think that is the part number I am trying to see. I have heard that it does not go all the way across the car the way the one in your picture does.

Loren is indeed a tech God, but I assure you there is. It even refers to the "lip" spoiler in the Tequipment catalog and warns that you cannot use the rear spoiler unless you also install the front one. One is on the way to me right now, I just want to ensure that I get the "right" one since I am ordering it separately as a replacement part rather than as part of the entire kit from Porsche (which includes the front lip spoiler if you order the part for +02 996s). It installs under the standard front spoiler. I will let you know when I learn more.

TD, definitely keep me up and I'll check with my dealer today. What is the part # of the spoiler u have ordered?

I am guessing that the lip spoiler is like one of these?........

Smaller one is Mk1 Lip (996 505 986 00) List $76
Larger one is Mk2 Lip (996 505 986 92) List $243

Dell and BullBear,

I have heard that it is similar to those, but only about 2 to 2/12 foot long. I don't have the part number here, but I will post when I get it.

P.S. I found the tequipment picture. Note the last line in the description, which says post 8/01 cars receive an additional front lip spoiler. Bullbear, are you sure your car doesn't have it and you just don't realize it? Apparently, it goes well under the stock front spoiler and is not immediately visible . . . it is solely for aerodynamic purposes.

Dell, thx for the pics but this is getting quite confusing. I just called the dealer and they actually have two kits in stock. The "lip" in question should be (996 505 555 01 as per Loren) and it only cost $85 CDN. So, I would say it is neither of the ones you posted (996 505 986 00 nor 996 505 986 92) but I can't confirm until I go and check it out in person. He did verify that this "lip" would be for 02'+ std bumper and that it is a very "small" lip.

Now, I just got to find time to go to the dealer.

thx again for all the input.

TD, if its a pure aerodynamic "piece" that is "under" the front bumper then I might have missed it. But I am assuming this is a lip similar to the GT3 lip but shorter in length. Also, I bot the car used and it came with the Carrera wing but I have no other details. Would this info show up on the option sticker? I don't even know if the car was ordered with wing or the dealer put it on afterwards. I'll take a look under afer work though.

Bullbear,

I think your dealer is talking about the same lip I am trying to see in a photo. It is very small, and not very expensive.
