Default Annoying Porsche drivers

These are the kind of drivers that give the rest of us a bad reputation. Yesterday I was driving with my family up 290 outside of Houston, we notice a guy in a new Seal Gray TT Cab jumping in and out of traffic, as he blows past us at approx 100MPH we are shocked at what we saw. He has two kids in the car and the worst thing is one of them is STANDING UP in the back seat, unrestrained, as he zooms thru traffic. Mister, if you are reading this you drive like an ******. Take it to the track if you want to drive like that, and leave the kids at home.

That's not annoying, that's just sad, and a little scary.

Minor tangent: Saw a cracked-up Boxster at the dealer this week. Customer took it on a test drive and lost control. Car saved their lives, but last I heard the salesperson was still in the hospital. Why do some people think a sports car is license to drive like an idiot?

problem with the porsche is you really can't tell the difference between going 50 and 120mph.. that's the problem i've noticed.. honestly, if there was no MPH gauge and no traffic, I sometimes wonder how fast I really am going.. the car makes it very difficult to tell.. of course impending obstacles/traffic/turns make one finally realize they really are driving 120mph <g>

Unfortunately I believe many of us see this type of behavior quite frequently, and we don't focus on the car but on the driver. If it's a Porsche however, you can't help but notice the car. My experience is that the vast majority of Porsche drivers drive very safely and are very considerate of others. The reason for this is that the average age of Porsche drivers that I've seen is in the late 40s and older drivers tend to drive safely. Also I think the average Porsche driver takes a great deal of pleasure and pride in driving his car.

I see this kind of driving all the time up and down 45 S in Houston especially in the summertime going back and forth to Galveston. I've seen Vipers, Vettes, P-cars and Ferraris all cracked up. What amazes me the most though is people in their SUVs and Minivans driving 10/10ths in traffic. I routinely get passed in my porsche by people doing 80-90+ in cars that just aren't designed for that sort of driving

The problem was not that he was going 100MPH, damn we've all done that and I agree sometimes I don't even realize I'm going that fast until I look at the speedometer, is that he had 2 kids in the car and one was STANDING up. That's criminal.

I saw something very similar, not a porsche, but he had two kids in the back and one of the kids was standing up.. he was going extremely fast. I called the state troopers and gave the guys info, maybe if they pulled him over it would save that kids life.

Unfortunately...there are many Pcar / Sports car owners out there with too much money and not enough brains. Sad really. (shaking head)

Wonder if that is same guy I saw in a gas station with a new Seal Grey TT (doubt it, it was in L.A.), bragging about how he ran it up to 180 on a local freeway - yeh, I hit a 100 once in a while on an open road, but 180 is insanity off the track. And with my daughter safely strapped in back, I ALWAYS take it safe and easy.

[QUOTE=DJ 996]These are the kind of drivers that give the rest of us a bad reputation.

Its one thing if you want to drive recklessly and put your life in danger but it is absolutely unthinkable to endanger a child's life or person for any reason whatsoever.

Bob...

I can appreciate what your saying but I can't agree with it. You must be in control of your car at all times and that includes knowing exactly how fast you are going at all times...IMHO.
