Buenos Tardes
I was in Barcelona/ Puerto La Cruz area for the month of November. It would be tough to keep a Porsche in Vz with the roads and drivers I saw.

The secondary air pump on the 996 is meant to speed up the time it takes for the CAT to warm up. The ECU has some diagnostics that sets the CEL (Check Engine Light) in case the CAT does not warm up quickly. There is also a secondary air valve which you may need to retain in the closed position to avoid exhaust gases in the engine compartment. You will likely get the CEL more often without the pump. Check the valve is opening and the air pump runs at cold start. Maybe you can fix it so the CEL goes out. I know that gas is only $0.11 a gallon there, maybe cheapest in the world. I got a receipt $1 to fill the tank, not for the expense account, but for a souvenir.

Default Porsche 996 full tank only 2 $

Yeah! gas is extremely cheap here, Porsche 996 full tank only 2 $, no speed limit: priceless.... actually roads to the east side of the country are not very good but to the west side they are, next time go to Morrocoy in Falcon State, or Los Roques sland, one of the nicest beach on planet, well I would try to eliminate this pump and leave the car without it, thanks for your help

"The secondary air pump on the 996 is meant to speed up the time it takes for the CAT to warm up."

Actually, the air pump is used to reduce the emissions before the CAT warms up.

Your car must be from the USA or a country that requires SAI. If you reflash the ECU with a ROW program it will ignore the SAI problem & not lite the CEL. If you remove the SAI & pump you need the ROW gaskets to block off the mounting holes under the intake manifolds.

Porsche sells gaskets for that also, for ROW.
