It's been awhile since I did mine with the AGA tool but I remember it being pretty straightforward. I used some el-cheapo ratcheting box wrenches and I think put a little grease on the Acme threads on the tool. I don't remember if it seemed like the grease helped or not.
Thanks - helpful to know. I watched the AGA video and seems very straight forward but curious to know if there were any gotchas that came up for people. Glad to hear you didnt experience any.
Not sure if its considered the go to but from of what I can tell most use (and what Ill be using) is a genuine part - 996-375-055-05. The AGA video also says that the OE is a Lemforder part.
About to do the transmission mount on my 2003 C4S using the AGA tool. Would be happy to rent or sell it when I complete the job (which expect to be the next week or two). Plan to use the tool with car lifted on jack stands.
In meantime welcome any tips from others whove done this already.

Ha, plan to use those exact wrenches myself!
The main gotcha is to make sure you have the correct trans mount bushing (there are some that are a little too large) and that you start it straight and dont make too many turns on either nut as the bushing enters the carrier. Once its far enough into the carrier it becomes obvious how many turns to make to each one (as the bushing starts to bind in the carrier the nuts become harder to turn).
*** I would recommend getting the bushing from AGA as its the correct size and the leading edge is beveled. Good Luck!

Much appreciated! Bought the mount from Porsche (AGA only had the Boxster mount) so fingers crossed right size. Good to know on the turns. Hope to tackle tonight!
Basic skills will get it done! Use plenty of grease/anti-sieze (on the acme bolts as well)
Thanks! ! Was able to get it done last night. Everything was pretty straightforward but took some patience and iterating with different tools. AGA must have updated the nuts included with the tool and I wasnt able to fit a ratcheting wrench around them. Used a combination if a deep socket on stubby flex ratchet and standard box wrench (which barely had clearance to move the top nuts). But with patience its installed and everything's back together. Thanks for all the pointers.
With that, have an AGA tool thats now available for sale or rent.
