Default Exhaust options?

Just picked up a 2004 Carrera and it's got no mufflers (see picture). I think the way it's laid out I'm not going to be able to install an off the shelf kit, but I'm hoping someone here can point me in the direction of something that might bolt up OR mufflers I can weld in that sound decent (not sure I have space).

I have a new set of SOUL sport cats on hand and after much research decided to go with their mufflers. My hearing isn't the best and won't improve in my lifetime so additional dB's was important to me.

I'm one week into a six week backlog wait for the mufflers to arrive. I'm glad the aftermarket demand is this good but will be even happier when everything is strapped in place and I'm driving.

I’m in the same boat, my newly acquired ’02 has a muffler delete also, luckily mine still has the stock brackets and hangers because those are pricey for what they are. Are yours gone?

You mean the hangers on the sides of the engine right? I think some are there, but that's a good question, I'll have to go back under and take stock of what I've got. It looks like I can scoop up a set of OEM headers on the bay and build a system off of those.

Would you consider just buying a used OEM 996 exhaust and installing it? Would be easy to do.

Hold on I just looked at their page and I think I'm a fool and I'm just missing the mufflers, I thought I had some aftermarket system from the headers back. This might not be as bad as I thought.

Looks like you just need mufflers.
I have a set of billy boat mufflers that I don't need anymore.

They're definitely an upgrade over the stock, quiet mufflers but pretty mellow until you get into the higher RPM range. PM me if you're interested.

Here's a link to various sound clips of different exhaust systems: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...deo-clips.html

I can vouch for the Billy Boat mufflers, that's what I have on mine and love the sound.

It looks like it’s got stock headers that may have been painted/ceramic coated black (if it’s regular paint it won’t last long). Stock, or any aftermarket mufflers should bolt right up to the cats… you’ll probably need new tips if you don’t already have them… Good luck

I was told it's jet coated so it should last for a decent bit. I'm honestly relieved that they're the stock headers and cats, that makes life much easier.

I'm not above slapping some baba parts on my car, the muffler delete just ain't it for me. I'll have to take a peek.

Well with customs/duty fees the $1k baba exhaust jumps to just under $2k. So back to looking.

If you want a stock exhaust, you can find them pretty easily on marketplace. You need to determine what brackets are still in there. Use searchtempest.com and you can search nationwide.
