"How to buy a 996 Porsche." Well done. Since it's a 40AE I'd budget for some some leeway in negotiations. They're very special. A distillation of all that was good.

And to wrap up this thread, I am now a proud owner of a 996 40 Jahre Anniversary Edition! What a car and what a drive home. I could barely believe the car I was driving is mine. I'm completely ecstatic!

Good choice, I think more people would make that choice given the opportunity to drive one. #0398 here, what number is yours? What part of the globe are you located in?

Yeah agreed! Through the lens of the internet it's really hard to see the value in the price premium on these, but in person I was shocked at both how much prettier and how much better driving the 40 AE was compared to the 4s.

I'm #533 in Vancouver!

Yep, it’s amazing how many are allured by that sexy butt and by pass the power, weight and nimbleness of the more conservatively attired sister.

Says 50% of men in the world. The other 50% are lured by headlights.

You're right. Was hoping for some better weather but it's not looking great in the forecast the next while, so these will have to do for now!

Congrats and welcome to the madness! I own #1111 and wishing you many fun miles. Be sure to join the 40th AE registry group on FB or reach out to Ted here. He has done a great job keeping track of these cars and owners.

Belated congrats on the purchase. In my work with the 911 40th Registry I received your email this morning and replied. I also approved your membership in the Registry's private group on Facebook (for the owners and caretakers of these cars).

Both options that you’re considering are great cars. You can’t go wrong either way. Pick the one that you like the best and don’t get caught up in the minutiae of why one is supposedly “better” than the other one.

When I bought a 996 (my first 911), this was an easy decision for me.
