Default 99 c2 coolant leak

Hi guys, I'm trying to chase down a coolant leak that's been progressively getting worse. I bought the car a few months ago and it had a slight coolant smell after long drives. Recently the smell has gotten more prominent and now also getting puddles of coolant on the ground

Looking around, I think I found the rough area it's coming from. Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks!

Wet area under coolant tank

Looking up from under the car, seems to drip down from this pipe

I could be wrong but I don't think there's a hose under that part of the coolant tank. My initial thought is the coolant tank itself has a slight crack and is leaking.

Here's the Porsche replacement part for the tank but it's speedy so best to try and verify first. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...or-99610615704

Looks like the coolant tank is leaking which is very common or a 24 year old 996..

Also you will find the 99 tank is crazy money but if you search you can find that the later model tank is much less expensive and can be made to fit without much fuss...search the archives...

Use OEM Porsche ONLY....

I got a little mirror to take a peek under the expansion tank and saw globs of pink goop... So looks like you guys are right!

Thanks for everyone's help. Will reach out to my local dealer to pick up an new tank.

Is there any "while you're in there" maintenance I should do? Thinking maybe water pump and engine mounts?

Both make sense.

I did a similar repair a few years ago and documented it here including the additonal parts installed at the time: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...it-begins.html
