Question Ticking noise from engine

Hi all, the last few times I have driven my 911 I have noticed the ticking noise shown in the attached videos.
it only started happening when we began to get colder weather.
is this something I should be concerned about or does anyone know if this is normal when it gets cold?
2000 Porsche 911 C2 Cabriolet w/Tiptronic. 115,300 miles
Thanks in advance.

The sound in the first video? That’s the injectors, they’re supposed to sound like that.

i didn’t hear anything worrisome in the other two videos. Obviously it’s a cold start (as you can tell from water vapor from the exhaust), but it sounds normal to me.

First car?! Good for you. Consider joining the Porsche Club of America and its local chapter. It will add to your knowledge base, plus there are a lot of PCA activities that make owning these fun and educational.

The gap between the exhaust and the rear bumper seems rather large, and more so on the driver side versus the passenger side. You should check your engine mounts. They might need to be replaced.

How do I check if the engine mounts need to be replaced?

Post above just told you.

Exhaust pipes sagging, usually tired engine mounts. Mine need replacing too, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Your's appear to be WAY to low which is an indication of replacement needed.

Engine sounds good to me also, you just have the "996 jitters", and yea, you need new engine mounts...

Engine mount check. Get yourself on the ground eye level with the exhaust pipes you can see just below the bumper. If the pipes are not level left to right, you have an engine mount failure. It can be done in your garage, but you may need a 2 meter breaker bar. DIY video at FCP Euro.

It all sounds pretty normal to me. Nothing to worry about.

My 996 is also my first Porsche, purchased just a few months ago, and I was also worried about every single noise especially after reading so much about the bore scoring issues. My previous car was a 2014 Lexus ES350 so I hardly ever even heard the engine, and had no clue what noises were normal and what weren't on the 996. This video was helpful in distinguishing between the injectors and the 'pistol slap' of bore scoring:
Hope that helps.
