I think the bigger issue with the classified section on this site is that ads are permitted to stay active long after an item ha sold. People list, and then disappear all the time. It should be mandatory to update the post within a specified time from original posting or it should time out and delete. I realize this may not be possible to do automatically depending on the forum coding, and that it is a huge undertaking for mods to handle, but the way it is, I really don't even bother looking anymore. So many times did I look at an ad, only to realize its actually like 2 years old and just was bumped cause of a comment about whether its available.

I recently responded to a listing in the Rennlist Market Place from several months ago without realizing it was a really old ad.
If I had realized that I wouldn’t have.
Surprisingly they still had it and we’re willing to make me a great deal.
You can find some great deals here in the Market Place!
Just save me a few!

Pooping on for sale ads is not "allowed" and frankly is the most common issue we respond to after spam, and yes it seems to be getting worse. Some repeat offenders have been banned from even viewing the classified forums.
Mods are unpaid volunteers responding to issues as we are made aware of them on our spare time. Never in the history of Rennlist have we been expected to read every single thread or post, which is why we rely heavily on the reported post function. It's really easy, you push this button, type in why, and we all see it:
Once posts have been removed there's no record of it ever being there, unless you are a mod. Long story short, unless you saw the offending posts before we are made aware of it, you'll never see any action taking place which I guess could lead some to believe we never do anything.
Next time instead of complaining about it, report it. Thank you

I've been a site moderator on a not so busy forum and it was plenty. So much in fact that I don't wish to do it again. I can't even imagine how much of a pain it would be for a site like this. I have a lot of respect for good and fair moderators and I'm aware that you can't possibly catch all of the problems.
Take a look at my original post. I'm "complaining" because I'm wondering if I'm alone in my "complaint". Bringing awareness to a potential problem can aid in finding a solution. Is this a DISCUSSION forum or not? I asked the question to Admin because I presume that is how policy is made. Mods got brought into the discussion becuse my thread happened at exactly the time that a "mod" added an inaccurate criticism on THIS CAR of all cars!!! https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1333290 . But the criticism of the Mods had nothing to do with me. I'm "complaining" about a practice that seems wrong to me, no matter who does it.

Being that my wife and I just dealt with literally dozens of trash, lying sellers on Marketplace while trying to buy her a temporary replacement for her totaled car (we can't get a new minivan that she wants thanks to inventory shortages), I can say that most of these Marketplace sellers deserve to be put in their place. I have bought many cars online and via marketplace even in the past. It is just a haven for scammers and garbage sellers now. We looked at a car that the guy listed as MINT CONDITION. We go look at it and the car looked like a golf ball. It had more hail damage than I've ever seen. Every single panel of the car was scratched, dents all over. Front bumper was falling off from a very apparent accident, and the guy tells me wife the clips holding it was just to make it look sporty. Interior looked like a buffalo lived in it for a good year or two. Brakes looked like they were original brakes, as in first brakes ever invented. We'd message people and ask basic questions like, "which engine does this car have" and get responses like "yes". We went to go look at cars and the people didn't show. One that didn't show tells us he is off getting a new key made for the car. We went at the time we were supposed to meet and that was his excuse for not showing. We responded a couple times and then never heard from him again. We had our two young kids with us even and wasted our time. So FB Marketplace sellers at this point in time, deserve all the trash talking they get in my opinion. We didn't come across a single honest person.
Here is a perfect example. Take a look at the first comment: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1333698 . The seller advertised the car accurately but someone had to poop in his ad for no other reason than personal preference.

Say what?
Yes it's a discussion forum, where did I say you could not discuss this topic? Did I close your thread, move it, delete it.....no, I joined the discussion by responded to it. You say you asked the question to Admin, which one did you contact? If you went through such channels and got zero response, that's another situation all together I can look into.
We are in agreement 100% on the topic. Nothing irritates me more than folks needlessly crapping in for sale threads. I've received the nastiest responses from folks defending their "right" to say whatever they want in such threads.
Here's a good example, there are 9 responses to this seller, yet only one remains:
https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1335791
The rest are busting the sellers ***** about flipping. This is probably the #1 thing we continue to fight on the for sale threads. Folks who don't like flippers and are hell bent on making sure we all hear about it.
What I find very interesting is very seldom are the sellers themselves reporting these posts, it's other members.
I should note, that some vendors who use the classified section have asked us to leave all responses, they welcome the discussion (no such thing as bad publicity to some).
Just to reiterate, such posts in for sale threads are not typically allowed, and the best thing to do is report such posts so we can intervene if needed.
As for the question about automatically expiring for sale threads, I need to look into that. I recall some time ago that was being discussed but I don't recall where that went.
