Default I tried search engine! Flat six cold air intake

I’ve always been a fan of more clean cold air into any engine can’t be bad. Did a cold air intake on my M3 and greatly improved response and power above 3-4K and speeds over 50ish
Thoughts on the Flat Six cold air elbow intake kit and drop in filter? Did one of there kits on my Macan S but kinda apple to oranges. Says 8-12 rwhp but I think that’s a stretched but idk? Lay some knowledge on me.

The OE air filter is a cold air intake because it draws air in from outside the engine bay. Any "kit" that sits in the hot engine bay and draws in air is not a cold air intake. Spend your money on something else.

This kit replaces plastic pipe from throttle body to air box and blocks off piece into the box so it’s one silicone elbow with less restriction, is the description. Also a drop in less restrictive air clear. Still no bueno?

Is there a picture or a link to what you are talking about?

I had this:

https://flat6motorsports.com/product...96-carrera-c4s

and now I have this:

https://samcosport.com/product/996-9...um-connection/

I like the sound each produce, and have zero expectations for any kind of performance gains. I certainly don't feel anything on the butt dyno.

That's a crazy price for that silicon tube.

Edit, I only saw the one that is $255 made by fabspeed. The cheap one will give you a little more sound from the intake. A lot of people just block off the OEM with a cap.

Here is the same thing.

^^Exactly^^

As long as the inside diameter is smooth and free of any imperfections, the same diameter and length it will perform the same

I guess you could ask the about the materials resistance to heat and impurities to each manufacturer.

I would be curious where is the country of origin of each.

Years ago, before spending thousands of dollars on an exhaust, I researched Headers, after manipulating the photos to exact same size of flanges, you can start to overlay the images of primary tubes and collectors. That started a bunch of inquires to manufacturers.
I found out that very popular name brands source their headers from the same countries of origin as the Ebay $100 set.

This was the same time period when the family feud at Kline and Top Gear was happening. Leading to Kline having to find another vendor to manufacturer their products.

There is a Performance brand in Great Britain, not TG, that even photoshopped their images to remove a welded seam showing that the primary tubes were in fact not one piece, but two welded together.
I found out because I ordered a pair and then sent them back.

Lots of rebranding going on, buyers do your homework.

I bought an elbow off eBay for $20 and a plug from Home Depot.
I never installed it, but gave it to a customer and he was very happy.
I went with Fabspeed intake then.
When I installed the 3.8 airbox and factory throttle body, I did the orange cap mod.
For a free mod, it's great!
Drink a atorgade and make your 996 sound better!
I now have the IPD block off kit that came with my IPD" Compeition" plenum for the GT3 Throttle body..
Sounds just like the orange cap mid. Ha!
