No worries and I’m planning to do Pikes Peak next so hopefully your schedule opens.

With your screen name (almost dragon) u get to drive up front .

The weather south of NYC should be fine for summer tires that time if the year if u can make it that far.

I don't know, the weather in the NC mountains in December is cutting it real close for summer tires if you ask me. I am planning to pick up a set of non-summers if I make it out. These are the monthly averages in Deals Gap:

I drove the dragon a couple years ago on my Pirelli Sotto Zeros. That was the end of those tires. It may have been cold out but the heat that got put into them with as many turns as there are destroyed the tread blocks. If you didnt drive all out I am sure they would be fine but not a good choice if you are “fast” and intend to drive “fast”

Justin is helping me figure this stuff out and David, who has done the Dragon answered some questions.

I'm more than likely going to stay in a VRBO or AirBnB(I have non car friends in ATL that I'm going to see before getting to The Dragon on the 1st.) and depending on how many people show up, we'll figure out a place that we can all assemble during non driving hours. The Dragon itself is only 11mi and if we start from the North down, we'll end up at the Cherohala Skyway. The other option would be the Cherohala - Dragon 120mi loop with plenty of places to stop. Attached is the loop which is denoted by the Yellow highlighted route.

I'm open to suggestions so please add info, Looking to have as many smiles per mile as we can get. Right now I don't want to advertise this on the Dragon's site because it's really for Rennlist and friends of Rennlisters for now, don't want a giant group. The week before I'll probably send an email out to photographers via KillBoy and let them know our route for us who want photos. Also, for those who like swag... I'm going to have some small stickers made: RennDragonRun2022.

Anyone heading up there from the South take the Ocoee River Rd into Telico Plains, it winds around along the Ocoee River and is great fun and beautiful..

Also Telico Plains is a good place for food/gas...pitstop

I checked Tapoco Lodge’s site and they are all booked up for the dates of this gathering.
When I g to the Dragon, I usually take Ocoee river Rd to Ducktown and then Hwy 68 up to Tellico Plains. The beginning of Tn 165 (Cherohalla Skyway) is a great place for a pit stop before driving the Cherohalla Skyway. My wife and I used to do this every month when we had motorcycles and have done it numerous time in our Porsches.

I'll start looking at places as soon as step foot in the US. Even though everything looks good for me to be home on time... I know better. 13yrs of defense contracting has taught me that timelines change quickly and often.
