Default Window Drop Microswitch Fail

Greetings all, question on a 2004 C4s: both windows (the partial drop mechanisms) seems to have failed on both windows at the same time. Is there a separate fuse for these? Windows otherwise works fine, just the 10cm drop upon door opening does not work. I can manually push the windows down and they will automatically raise when the doors are closed so its only the lowering movement that is not working. Possibly a fuse that I cannot locate or would it be a microswitch? I find it strange that both quit working at the same time.

If you lift the door handle slightly, and hear the motor activate, yet the window does not drop, then the problem is the "regulators"..

Common problem , just search "window regulator DIY" and you will find all the info you need.

Cheers !!

One suggestion to try first - reset the window(s) limit switches. Push the window switch down and hold for a slow count to ten after it lowers.. Then push the window switch up. After the window is up continue to hold the up button for a slow count to ten.

I would start here too, if it happened on both sides at the same time. Was the battery disconnected?
It's probably not the problem since you said they otherwise work fine, but it's certainly worth a try.
...and is metric your second language? 10cm is a pretty big drop

Manually push with your hands? If so that’s the regulator that’s worn out. If the motor moves or makes noise when you open either latch then the regulator is not allowing the window to drop.

Update: The battery was disconnected. I noticed the problem after it was reconnected.

I followed the instructions to reset the microswitches - push window down 10mm. Activate and hold switch. Then push up to full close and activate and hold switch. Problem still persists

When I lift the door handle, the window slightly moves and I can hear the regular motor actuate, interior lights come on. The window doesn't drop, it only slightly shifts. All of the door locking functions are working fine. If I can here and feel the window is moving, would it be the door lock assembly microswitch or the window regulator?

Regulator is worn out. It is a cable driven system that relies on the cable being taught to work correctly. When the cable loosens this is what happens.
