You west coasters have been hiding Angeles Crest from me for 51 years!
So finally I got to experience that road for the first time last week. We flew in from Maryland and rented an Aud R8 V10 to enhance the experience.
It might be the best driving public road America has. 1/2 way up to Newcombs Ranch at the rest stop I let my son drive. I was both happy and scared at the same time I'm glad we could share the experience.
You are very lucky to have that road and that car culture in your backyard so to speak. Thanks for sharing.
Ha! Yep, it's 27 miles of bliss from the Shell station to Newcombs. Gets even better if you keep going all the way up and over to Wrightwood. Amazing views. Don't blame you for being a little scared. This Bombcyclone has dumped some crazy weather on us this last week. Prob 6ft of snow at Newcombs right now!

How was the Audi?
The Audi was numb ish. Too smooth. Not loud enough. Great brakes and decent steering.
With that being said I'm comparing it to my 991.2 Touring so that's really not fair. Let's just say I'll never own one as a toy car. Maybe a daily driver.
Pluses: It was a convertible, I was with my son and it was Christmas day. Life couldn't have been better to us.

This ia my 99 Cable Car that i purchased in 2018 and have been building it in a small rented garage. I have one outlet in the ceiling that can't support an air compressor so I painted it with aerosol cans. I love all Porsches but the 996 was the 911 for me. I had a poster of one in High School. I really love the 70s outlaws, classic club sport cars and wanted to incorporate that into my car. I have done a lot of work on it making it my own. I'm sure my taste are not for everyone but it wasn't built for anyone other than me and I'm in love.
