I can understand, paying $25K for 330 wheel horsepower is not something some folks want to advertise.
But, Bruce is a technically minded guy and understands that peak power is not the whole story, the only way to see the mid range punch is with the graphs, so I was hoping maybe he would buck the trend of the top secret (literally the dumbest thing ever) FSI dyno graphs.
My plan, since F6I dyno graphs never seem to be shared, is to:
1) Have my dyno graph professional framed to preserve it.
2) Hang it in my garage
3) Buy a rope barrier for the entrance to my garage
4) Charge $15 for a long distant glimpse at the graph. No flash photography allowed!
What am I missing? No F6I customers dyno their car? What's the secret?
It seems that most owners don’t share their dyno graphs. (F6I does not prevent you dynoing your car and sharing graphs)
But since F6I engines are custom built and tuned, there’s no “this is what all F6I builds produce” graphs.
Also since F6I engine are built for better torque over the entire range, and not focused on peak HP with a kill tune, graphs are not normally shared.
Every year F6I continually improves their engines, so an engine from 2017 is not equal to a 2022 engine.
Owners have told me the power gets better as the engine gets more miles on it even after break in.
Having the highest peak HP is great for bragging, but better torque over the entire range is better for driving.
This is similar to 0-60 times.
A modern automatic is faster for 0-60, but for me a quality manual is better for overall driving.
My car is for driving, not 0-60, not 1/4 mile drag, not dyno bragging.
I’d rather have a slower car with a manual transmission.
I’d rather have a better torque curve than a higher peak HP.
I hadn’t even thought about posting dyno graphs until now.
My posts will likely drop when I get my 996.2 back and the engine is broken in, I‘ll be too busy enjoying driving.
I've put 16k miles on my 997.2 FSI 4.0 Stage II Track Performer in 15 months and it gets better with every mile. Have a stock 996tt coming soon and I can't wait to compare them.

I acquired mine under unique circumstances and have never seen any dyno results. I believe max hp for the original stock 3.8L is 385hp and PO verbally indicated the 4.0 was in the 430-440 range. Again this is all non-verified. The car is a beast, no other description works. @zbomb you have an open invitation to come drive it anytime you venture to NY/NJ and feel it for yourself.
@PUZZ1 Great shot. Compliments to your son. How about the same photo at higher speed with the spoiler engaged, that would make an great photo comparison. I have the same car, Arctic Silver 4s, can't tell what rims you have but assuming turbo twists. I don't have a rear wiper, though I wanted one
