Default Codes P1121, P1124 and P1126

Greetings all.

My 1999 C2 has been running great since I bought it. On Friday I had it out for a good drive and it crossed the 160,000 KM threshold - I know its not lots, but it is still a threshold.

Around the same time as hitting 160,000 the CEL comes on. When I got home I checked the codes and I have Confirmed P1124 and P1126 as well as a Pending 1121. I understand that these codes are related to Oxygen Sensing, Oxygen Sensor and MAF issues. I do not sense any change in idle issues.

I was wondering - is it just a coincidence that the odo turn 160,000 at about the same time the CEL comes on? Did Porsche pre-program a service interval that lit the CEL? My 1980 911SC had an Oxygen Sensor light that would light up and designated intervals.

Looking for some answers on this before I start delving in to further examination and possible replacements.

thanks

jb

OMG! So you drive around in your car and deeply suspect that the manufacturer has pre-programmed error codes in the ECU at particular mileage intervals? How do you live with these thoughts? Do you think this about all of your vehicles? Do you have other vehicles? How do you handle oil change intervals?

1121 is Throttle Position Sensor 1
1124 is Full Pump Relay Output Stage
1126 is Oxy Sensing Adaptation Lower Load Range Bank 1

Not an expert of any of the sensors, but I have an 02 with 57k miles and I am in the process of replacing all my sensors over the next 12 months if I haven't already. The 996 is now 20+ years old. Stands to reason a few may eventually go bad.

This was actually very common in the days before OBD1.

I believe these 3 codes for a '99 3.4L (DME 5.2.2) are all O2 sensor related...P1121 is O2 sensor heating error, & P1124 & 26 are LH & RH O2 sensors at rich threshold. Might want to check your air pump system is working correctly at warm-up and for vacuum leaks.

You may be right. I have a 2002 and took the codes from my list.

Thanks for the positive responses. I did not know whether 20 years ago Porsche had pre-programmed some maintenance needed alerts as opposed to a failure.

Will do some exploring when the weather cooperates.

If you haven't cleared the codes/ reset the fuel trims, then just look at the range 1 near idle fuel trim and if it is -0.36 , the problem is for sure the MAF sensor. I've seen it 100 times.

If you have already cleared/reset everything, then drive it untill it comes back..Then check range 1 fuel trims.
