My thoughts? Someone paid a bit more than they needed to for a nice 996...

Read the comments on BaT. Don't really understand the extra love for the 99s. I could have bought a 50k mile 99 cab for 17,000 with LN solution. Rubs on rear wheel well and front bumper from exiting garage that needed $1800 in body shop work to repair and needed new leather on driver's seat. Very happy with my 03, but now thinking should have bought both, fixed the 99 and sold it.
Plugged car into KBB for value. Selecting "excellent condition" gave a private party average value of $17,152. I think sites like KBB give lower values than the real world, but $20,000?

I think KBB is almost useless for any enthusiast car. A few years ago they valued my e46 M3 with 70k miles somewhere around 12k. I sold it for way more than that and I think the same goes for most older enthusiast cars. It says my 99 Cab is between 15-18k but I think given the current market I could get 20-25k for it but I do think BaT tends to produce more outliers.

99 is lightest and purest water cooled 911, lighter than the 964 and 993, faster (convertibles excluded). All that came after started bloating up. Anyway it goes something like that..

Early build 99s ARE the best 996s!

But someone overpaid for this one

'True', and 'for now'. In 2006 Rennlist.com was the venue 964 fights, there were 10 haters for 1 supporter. Today a not so special 964 can go for 2 to 3 times what this guy paid for a nicely colored 996, not run of the mill. Meet me here in 15 years.

That’s why the original amber headlights and taillights from my 2/98 build 996 are safely tucked away.
You never know

Thanks
I’m just trying to figure out why this one is worth almost twice what I paid for mine this summer

Better spec (to me) , similar mileage and bought at a Porsche dealer who installed 4 new Michelins and changed the oil 🤷‍♂️

Must be the boring Arctic Silver

Arctic boring? Nope. Arctic just works on this car with the headlight design and the lines. Had a new one in 99 with the ambers, didn't know what I had, sold it. Duh. Stupid.

I hope I never have to sell my '99, but hopefully people don't find the old silver girl boring because of the paint! They made so many silver '99s.
