Default Reasons why the 996 sucks

There are many, but here’s one few talk about:

One cannot select an HVAC temperature between freezing and 63 degrees F. The HVAC setting goes from ‘Low’ to ‘64F’ without any consideration for anything in between for me, and as a consequence, my entire family, who all have to hear me rant and complain about it nearly every day, in the winter at least, makes life nearly unbearable. I can choose either “freeze my *** off cold air from the outside,” or “64F is actually way too warm if I have my Canada Goose winter coat on.” God forbid I actually took a warm shower that morning, and drank coffee, which makes 64F a sweat condition, exacerbated by the already elevated temperature of my excited pulse due to knowing I’m about to get into, and drive, a 911.

It’s been 4 years of ownership and I don’t know how much more I can take of this. I have to resort to cracking the windows, which forces me to hear a lot more of my fister exhaust. Good luck holding business conversations in the vehicle in that scenario. I get all sorts of comments from the other end of the phone, “Are you in your Poor-SHHHH right now?”

If someone can please post and recognize (validate for me) the elephant in the room catastrophe that is the missing HVAC temp range issue, then I might be able to get through 2021.

The temp on the climate control display really doesn't correspond to an actual temp. All that temp does is move the blend door over a certain percentage to mix fresh air with heated air. Vice versa with the AC on. You don't happen to have any foam coming out of your vents do you? Just wondering if the blend doors are not "blending" properly anymore.

I would drink ice tea if I was you. Theine free preferably too...
Did you try driving with cooling gloves? They are pretty cool.
Finally but not least, open the windows, The air mix will give you the chill youre looking for...

(Dont mention it, glad i could help, thats all)

Interesting. I'd suggest something is wrong. My 99' C4 Cab's works perfectly and seems to dial exactly any temp I select. But my car has less than 30K miles on it....

The logical thing to do is to take the thick coat off once the cars warms up a bit, but if you really want to change the range of temp settings and be a little "industrious", you could "trick" the interior temp sensor with a resistor to change the temp range. Interior temp Sensor part #7 in the diagram is a simple NTC variable resistance sensor, adding or subtracting resistance using a simple resistor will change the temp range.

Hey, that's an interesting modification. I like that. In my case I do remove my coat before I get in the car. It also gives me better Freedom with my arms.

wait, wait, are you just kidding?

No real Ice tea in Canada. Country insensitive comment (I love unsweetened ice tea - I miss working in the U.S.)

You just need to move to a warmer climate...and leave your coat at Goodwill.
No coat needed down here.
You just need a jacket for maybe 4 days out of the year.
Too cold of an AC is never complained about!

This. I don't know how we can call ourselves a multicultural nation without unsweetened fresh ice tea.

Having travelled a fair bit in the US and in other areas of the world, most things are available in the Toronto area. In fact, many ethnic foods are quite authentic when compared to the originating countries. Surprisingly, have never found good unsweetened ice tea here. This is probably 1 of 2 things I have never found in an around Toronto. The other is:

Grilled escargot. Not in an oven, but actually grilled. If I had to choose a last meal, this would be it. Very unique and scrumptious. Very different than typical escargot. Google "Caracoleta Assada"

Let's see, Chicago? 32F? Get your big Carhartt coat, a nice wool beanie, some cashmere lined leather gloves. Put the top down and forget about the HVAC limits...

Added benefit of continual use of exhaust to drown out callers you don't wish to speak to.
