Driving last night I realized my needle for the oil pressure gauge was not lit up. One of the LEDs must be burned out. Is this common? What are solutions? Can the gauge be purchased separately or can the LED be replaced? Thanks.

WOW..just wow! First post and only post. Did you even try to run a search before posting? Maybe even a Google search? BTW, earlier models have bulbs in the gauge cluster, later models have a mix of LED's and bulbs. So it is always important on car forums to post the model and year of your car. Kinda makes sense because our 996's now span around a 22 year model run with a lot of changes made over the years. Get it? We are not psychic and do not know you or your car. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for your considerate reply. I am sure this kind of response will want people to be part of your group. Just to confirm, I am relatively new to this board, I joined about 3 months ago and made some posts. I purchased a new computer a few days ago and now this site thinks I just had this one post. I did forget to list the car, I apologize. 2003 Carrera Cabriolet 2wd. I did search the web and this site. Information was a few years old and I was hoping that some new options were available. Yes, I have found the directions to remove the dash and remove gauges to get to the LED. But I did not find any information as to which bulb to get for replacement. Plus I was hoping someone would say that the gauge can be purchased separately. Although I doubt it is. So, does anyone know which bulb to order from Superbrightlights?
I would like to mention that this site has been very useful to this first time Porsche owner.
[QUOTE=Also they are super inexpensive, so I just replaced all of mine when I was in there.[/QUOTE]
^^^^ This! Change all the bulbs at one time. Brightness changes as the filaments wear.
Oh! And welcome to the group. This site has any detail you need to fix anything. The search is a bit clunky, I rarely use it. I find it's much faster to find something on this site using Google search. The cabriolet's are awesome! Mine is a 2002 C2 Cab.

The picture of the rear of the instrument cluster might be an older year than my 2003. But I decided to remove the cluster and see what lights are in it. Well, the plastic around my three connectors is disintegrating as I try to pull them out. I did unsnap the hold down levers, but the plug refuses to release. So now I have another issue, can I get replacement plugs for the instrument cluster? My were probably destroyed by lots of exposure to the sun.
@hbdunn , is that a 996.1 or 996.2 gauge cluster?
I have the same problem ar OP and I thought the 996.2 only had LEDs.
I also googled for an answer and couldn't find a 996.2 specific answer.

My bad seems the later clusters are LED which are not replaceable.
The LEDs can be replaced and I have the directions for doing that. What I need is the correct LED to replace what is there now. Although I was hoping to find a replacement oil pressure gauge so I would not have to do the delicate soldering.
