Default How would I go about buying this hose?

Hi,
Newbie here trying to figure out the correct name of this hose. I searched the workshop book, but cannot ind any info on it. Very accessible and should be an easy change, but don't want coolant spillage (as I suspect).

From the picture it sure looks like you have an oil leak above your header. Dripping oil on a hot header is not going to end well. I would suspect your oil pressure sender is leaking, or weeping oil. It could be something else but I would check it first.

That's actually a picture I took from the internet, as I didn't have my phone handy :-)

I can post a pic of it in the morning, but this hose on my car has a clamp smack dab in the middle of it. Certainly that isn't correct?

The hose clamps should be on each end of the hose, not in the middle. Are there any worm clamps on it? The reason I ask is that I replaced the spring clamps on that hose by carefully using a Dremel cutting wheel and then replaced the spring clamps with worm clamps. That way I did not have to disconnect the hose to remove the spring clamps and drain all the coolant, then have to refill the coolant. So maybe someone just moved the spring clamp to the middle of the hose in order to put on a new clamp.

Take a look. It appears someone must have slid the clamp over and then placed a worm clamp in it's place (?).

Well then, exactly what I said. Bone head move on someone's part. Drain coolant, replace hose, use some nice SS worm clamps, refill and move on.

It was YOU that did this, wasn't it?

That's the plan at least. Also, I found a leak towards the front of the engine on the block that involves a small metal plate. Replacing that as well.

Nope! I admit sometimes I am challenged (stupid) but not on this one. Did you find the correct gasket for the small metal plate?

I just ordered a new plate as it appears to come with the gasket (I hope!). Might be overkill and just wasted an extra 20 bucks but too late now.

I hate to ask this question but my head is spinning after searching and I know you're an authority on such things: When I change the plate my understanding is about 1.5 gallons of coolant will come out.

My current coolant is green

Porsche stuff is pink

I know not to mix the two. What green coolant would be compatible??

At least some of the coolant is only a few hundred miles old as it was filled by my indy during replacement of the lower alternator bracket/cover.

If it is the true Porsche coolant, pink is compatible with green, so no need to change out everything. 50/50 Porsche coolant and distilled water. However, pink and green make brown, so don't be shocked if your coolant looks a little weird. I would double check with your Indy to find out if he used green Porsche coolant or something else. Simple question. Hope he is honest. If in question, drain it all and refill with Porsche coolant. You won't regret it because then you will be sure of what you have.

I have never seen green Porsche coolant, it has always been reddish pink like Pentosin. Coolants don't mix brands very well. I know it is a pain the butt to drain all 8 gallons of this stuff from the car but if I were going to drain some coolant anyway, I would just drain all of it and refill with Pentosin pink coolant.

I think the old Porsche factory fluid was **** yellow.
It’s been pink since 05ish since.
