Hello everyone. Today I'm going to swap out my old wobbly suspension, as it's very annoying and unsafe to drive. I'm curious if theres any dos or don'ts to this procedure, or helpful tricks? Following the suspension refresh, I have the car scheduled for an alignment. The shop I use, is very good and will align to any specs I specify. My question is do I let them put it "in the green" or what are the exact numbers I should have the car put to?
Thanks in advance.
OP - Alignment specs depend on what you want the car to do and what components you are using for your suspension. Numerous threads with lots of data and “do/don’t” advice on the web. Elephant and Tarett are very good sources. They will give you some detailed pointers and suggestions if you ask. I agree you want the best information for you suspension settings...makes the car a bust or a blast.
Thanks. I've read some threads, but it seems most are detailing coilovers and lowered ride heights or ROW/GT3 specs. I just need good DD specs. I'm not sure what the factory specs are.
Before and after specs on my 99C2. My setup maximizes tire life, but to be honest, the car still handles very well, even on the track. I have no complaints, and I have racked up 16,000 miles on my Michelins and they still have lots of life left.

Thanks. I'll look into that, and see what Ican find as far as what's listed in the archives. I appreciate it.
So after wrestling with the A arms, the new suspension is installed and the car has a fresh alignment. I'd like some feedback of the specs. The right front caster is out a few hundredths. I voiced my uneducated concerns to the tech/senior tech (shop owner) about the caster still being in the red. As my car routinely sees speeds over 130mph, a stable, predictable and safe car/alignment, are paramount.
after an explanation of the numbers, I was assured that these numbers are acceptable. The tech said that due to the roads crest, its preferred to have the higher caster on the left front, but the current setting shouldn't affect the car as is. The work is warranted for two weeks, and if I need an adjustment, theres no additional charge.
I was told that the car either has its caster maxed on that side, or there isn't any additional adjustment and that the other option would be to split the difference side to side. Alignment and mount/balance are the only things I take cars to shops for, (outside warranty work), so I'm unsure if this is smoke being blown or not. The shop is reputable and I've used them before when having a car set to a specific spec, with great results. Seeing red has me nervous though.
consensus?
thanks, for the link. I've seen that posted on just about every alignment thread in the archives. The problem I'm having is that I don't understand what that means or how it converts to what my car is aligned to. Any explanation or clarification, please?
Unless you have a GT3, or aftermarket parts, caster is not adjustable on these cars as far as I know.
Thanks. I didn't know that. does the rest of the numbers look "good"? I regret not having my tire pressure's set high, when I got the alignment done. My pressures are 36F 40R. Not sure if this negatively impacted the results. Overall, the car feels better, and the new struts/springs are much better (not to mention safer).
