Default Replace piston squirters

I'm trying to find a resource on replacing piston squirters for the 996 engine. Mine is 2004 C2. I've been searching and haven't found any specifics for removing the squirters from the crankshaft carrier. I also can't find anything on any of my workshop manuals. Any help would be appreciated!

I think you better contact Jake at FSI with this question. He is the engine builder that knows it all.

They pull out easily & just run hot water thru them to insure no clogs then dry with compressed air hose. Reinsert like they were before. It seems like they are not secured but it works fine.

I agree with Joe. Jake Raby would be the best resource for M96 rebuilding questions. He is soon to be releasing a DVD video series on assembling these M96 engines. You might want to check it out once available.

I have the video series and it covers installing the piston squirters. I was checking to see removal tips. They sit flush with the carrier and don't just fall out by turning them upside down so I was checking to see a safe way of extracting them. Jake's a busy guy and I'm trying to save questions to him for critical things or when I get really stuck. I'll play around with them as I get to cleaning the carrier.

Warm the carrier up and they’ll normally fall out on their own if you tap on the carrier while it’s inverted. Remember, have the main bearing inserts removed when doing this.

You can use a small rod to convince the squirters to dislodge, if necessary.
