Default dropping transmission

I'm attempting to change the clutch but I can't seem to get the leverage or room to undo the top bolt in the transmission. What tools/ extensions have yall used to get to that bolt? I already have the engine and trans lowered as far as i can. I also have two electric impact wrenches but neither could break free any of the bolts, would an air impact have better luck?

I’ve only ever done it by dropping the transmission and engine completely as a unit. Once you do so, it’s very simple. When you say you’ve dropped the engine/transmission “as far as you can”, - do you mean all the way to the crossmember? I’m pretty sure that will get you 3” or so of space - plenty to get your extensions into that pesky top bolt. All I could suggest at this point is that perhaps a heavier extension (1/2” drive or even 3/4” drive) will serve you better as the lighter/thinner ones tend to twist - reducing the amount of torque you can apply to the bolt. Good luck👍

I just did one a month ago. I used a very long 20 inch long 3/8 extension, a 6 inch wobble extension, a 3/8 short socket, connected to a long 24 inch 1/2 ratchet, and snap that sucker loose. Then use a driver to quickly remove the bolt. An impact driver from that long of a distance is not very effective at delivering the torque.

That is more or less what I did. I also removed the air box before lowering the front of the engine down. I was able to lower it quite a bit, but I had very old engine mounts at the time, not sure if that made a difference.

I use 6 or so extensions, and reach the bolt from the front of the transmission where there's room for a big wrench to rotate. The numerous extensions permits it to bend slightly over the transmission to fit - no specific wobble fitting was ever needed when I've done this.

Lower the motor to the cross bar, that should give you plenty room.

No need to lower the engine. Just use long extensions,
