I wouldn't bother. How are you going to get back there and do it? Removing all that stuff including the intake manifold again is just asking for trouble. Once you run a new section of hose from the fitting to the nipple, you could trim the existing hoses running to the AOS back a bit and cap those...effectively capping the AOS coolant ports off.

I can jack it up and barely get my hand up to it from the bottom if needed. But, I'm all for taking the path of least resistance!
Thank you all for you help.

Doesn't matter, you can leave the AOS ports open, no harm will come. You must cap the coolant lines, either at the AOS or at the origin, or run a by-pass line.

I'll just use a barbed fitting and connect the two since I have one lying around somewhere.

First time, I swapped out because I was replacing the motor with a used motor, and did not know how old it was. Second time is because the AOS hates the track. Third time was because the AOS hates the track.

The third time, I got the old one out in 52 minutes. Once you know where the intake bolts are, it is actually easy.

Did you do any of the last 2 with the engine in the car?

If its any consolation, BMW's have and AOS and its a total piece of crap too..
The BMW one freezes up in the winter as well.

Costa a grand on a E46 to change out the whole deal, lines and unit, and OIL DIPSTICK housing cause its part of it..

I did number 2 and 3 with the motor in the car. Totally doable.

Not so easy on a .2 though.

So true. I've never actually had one go bad. I just get sad when I don't get to see it at least once a year, so I take it out and put it back in again.
