Default shipping my 996

I plan to ship my 996 from Naples fla to West Chester PA. Got a quote from Roadrunner transport for $845. This will be an multicar open transport carrier. Any insights on roadrunner or any suggested carriers that you trust. Enclosed truck was about $600/more

^^ Seems to be pretty close to what I paid to/from GA/NY. All shipping inquiries go into an open "bulletin board" type system that all the carriers have access to (I'm sure you know this by now). The problem is that unless you do this all the time, you really have no idea what you're getting. All this being said, I didn't have any problems (i.e. - damage/theft etc.) either way except for timing, which regardless of what they tell you (they'll promise you the world, but you won't get it), be prepared to ship/receive the car up to a day or a couple early or late...

my son and i drove his Boxster from Seattle to Austin for a road trip and we shipped car back using roadrunner...but frankly i was willing to take the risk. Service was great...on time ...but car came back dirty but i was expecting that. No other problems. the danger with open is that they could hit low hanging trees though they tend to watch out for that

i use plycar for cars i care about. They use their own trucks and drivers

Intercity Lines is always the way to go.
Believe me you do not want to cheap out on shipping. Just google for horror stories. There are only a few good transport companies. Ones that you can basically call the carrier on their cellphone 24 hours a day.
Stay away from brokers. You really have no clue whats happening and what they are doing they can be a week late or a day early.

I learned the hard way concerning transport. Tried the broker way the first time and car was late, never actually delivered to my house and could not contact driver during route. Next time used Intercity and they delivered a day early and I was in constant contact with the driver. Well worth it despite slightly higher cost.

Reliable Carriers. Enclosed trailers only. Not cheap but they take good care of your car. You end up with the driver's cell phone number to talk or text and they email you when your car is delivered to the destination. Professional and experienced with higher end vehicles.

+1

I ship around 4-10 cars a month using a variety of transporters and Reliable is by far the best! I hate open carriers as the vehicles are always filthy on anything but a cross town trek.

My car was shipped from Florida to New York. They picked up the car with a small trailer and a pickup truck! Bottomed out the front end. Then no info for days! They finally called me the night before and dropped off my car. It was handed off 3 times! They actually drove it the last 40 miles to drop it off !!!!! Front bumper bottom all scrapped, Wheel well liner that e3xtends to under car cracked. No compensation! BEWARE!!!
