They arent hanging on the lines. If you looked, you would have seen that I had a second black wire holding the weight.

He must be getting tired of me. Lol
He must be very patient if it were me I know what I would be telling you to do.

I don't think it's his patience that matters here. I have been WAY MORE than patient with him.

I stopped by there again this morning. He showed me that the weight of the caliper is not on the brake line. I did say that I always support the caliper with a hook whenever I remove them.

He is the expert so I wasn't going to bust his chops more than my first text. That being said, it is my car.

Anyway, I am starting to get sick to my stomach though. As of now, he has had the car for 3 1/2 weeks. I was pissed that he didn't do anything to it for the first two weeks, it basically just sat there. And when he said it wouldn't be done today because of a newly found 'nicked' coolant line, i sank to a new low. Dramatic I know but he has had my 'new to me' car longer than I have.

Anyway, he is promising tomorrow.

I suppose the silver lining is that nothing bad could have happened if I wasn't driving it.

BTW - He only charged $185 for the genuine Porsche coolant expansion tank. Am I losing it or have users said that it should be well over $300??

Mk II coolant tanks are MUCH cheaper than Mk I's. They are $138 from Sunset porsche. $180 is standard retail price, which a shop will charge normally.

Up until recently I’ve always used electric fence wire to hold up calipers.
I recently bought a large hook from Michaels. ($3.99)
It looks similar to the ones sold elsewhere for $20+.
Glad I went to Michaels that day with my wife.
I went back a few days later and bought a few more.
I have 4 for myself, 2 for the Car Ministry, and I got 2 for my son.
Those hooks are awesome!

Relax. An OE Porsche coolant expansion tank for 2001-2005 at Pelicans is $151 plus shipping. $637 Porsche for a 99-2000 coolant tank. At least the engine is back in car. You want him to be slow and careful.

Ormond Beach ... ? That is where I bought the car from. Ormond Fine Imports. lol

Anyway, I thought the tank was much more expensive. Glad to hear he is charging normal prices (he got it direct from a Porsche dealership).

Picked up my car Friday. Got an hour into driving and got a cel (P0171 and P0174). Called the indy and he said it sounded like a vacuum line came loose.

Started to drive it over to the shop and my water temp fluctuated from 0 to 180, throwing a P0116 error.

I get to the shop and the rear trunk release didn't work. He had to use the pull cable to open it up.

He found the airbox clamps were not tight and figured that was the problem for 171 and 174. Trunk release started working.

Drove off and again 171 and 174. Also same problems with 116 and the temp gauge reading 0 degrees.

I believe 171 and 174 will be fixed with a smoke test and finding the vacuum leak. What about the 116 (zero temp) and rear release. Indy said he thought it might be a air pocket but I doubt it...

Your indy doesn't test drive the car before calling to have it picked up?

It was test driven. These things appeared after an hour of driving.

The PM was for the IMS, which is not exactly a haphazard decision. But I do agree that sometimes doing work like this can cause issues with an otherwise healthy car.

Sorry - but this is a total bullsh!t post!

The car is 15 years old and has 73,000 miles on it. He'd really be screwing up if he didn't perform appropriate PM.
Installing the IMS Solution is probably one of the best things to do on these cars to buy peace of mind. And to do that, the engine should come out. To not take care of the other things - while in there - would be stupid.
