Default Help me fund my engine rebuild!

Guys,

I got a little ahead of myself. I have several new and used parts that I won't be able to use if I go with an engine rebuild. I am hoping to go for a 4.0L+ rebuild. Would love to go for the 4.3L! Obviously, none of the rebuilds are cheap so I am trying to unload some parts to help fund the project.

Hoping anyone who is looking for any of my new parts would be interested in buying from me instead.

I can also offer to anyone who is close by and buys parts from me a drive in my car once the new engine is installed. Yes, I said you can drive it! I actually want to share the engine with the community.

Pm me if you're interested in anything! Also, I have some more parts that I will post up when I can

Thanks!

I would think you would get a better response with a different title. Sounds like its a link to a Gofundme looking for money. Not trying to sound rude, just an observation.

I don't mind the criticism. I actually appreciate it.

I thought it was a good title because that was my goal - a GoFundMe-type of campaign. I was actually going to credit the people who bought parts off me to the build, as well as my local friends who are contributing. Most people low-ball for even new parts. I figured it would be a great cause if people who were going to buy these parts new anyway would buy from me and get to drive the car is they were local once the engine was done. I wanted to offer up parts to help the funding because I didn't want to just ask for donations. Now it makes me wonder if others would be interested in a regular GoFundMe build.

Post up if you would be interested in crowdfunding a 996 build, even if you'll contribute $1 to it. I'll offer up my chassis and let people drive it on the streets and/or on a track. I like trying weird and crazy things like this. lol I can take some videos of people's impressions and do a series something like OneTake on YouTube. Instead of Matt giving the impressions, the donors will.

If enough people are interested, let's go for the wildest, craziest M96 build! It would be interesting to see the responses from the 996 naysayers. I like it! lol

I think most of us have our hands full with our own 996 “build”, i.e. regular/preventative maintenance. I do like the thread title though.

I've had a few guys build "community cars"... One guy had 7 friends chip in, and build the car. It used my 4.0 and made 340 at the wheels.

They crashed it the first day it went to the track.. Pulled the engine out, and threw it in a Boxster... Now the car is somewhere in Canada shredding gearboxes, the way it should be.

Now that is cool (except for the accident. lol) ! I love hearing stories like that. Cool ideas often come out of a team effort. Plus, your 4.3L M96 should be experienced by several people, not just by a few! I'll see if I can make that a reality!!

I have one of the best shells to use for a 4.3L build, too!!!

I will be in touch!!

Were you the one trying to buy the car up in New England? The 996 Turbo? I can't remember. Thanks for the shout out though!

Anyway, this thread got a little off topic. Buy my parts! I need a rebuild!

PMs replied to.
