Default Installed Continental TRD7412

First, a HUGE thank you to Tore at Bergvill F/X! He held my hand through the entire install and went above and beyond - best customer service I've seen.

I got the TRD7412 since it won't scream "hey I've got a nice stereo, steal me" and it has modern tech.
I wasn't sure which harness I would need, so I sent Tore some pics of the back of the stock radio; he suggested the BOSE harness, which was spot on (even though I have the base sound system).
Turns out, I had a Frankenstein...The stock head unit was the CDR-23, but since I had no amp and only 4 speakers, the MOST connector was just looped back on itself.

When I got it installed, the Conti wouldn't power on/off with ignition, so I sent more pics of the harness to Tore, and he was able identify that I had the 2004 model "Facelift radio + Radio Preparation M441" which does not have the Terminal 86S wire (ignition switch).
He suggested bridging the ISO A pin 4 (the yellow/red wire in his harness) to the ignition switched circuit on the Climate Control Unit harness (connector D, pin 9, black/blue wire).

That worked and the Conti sounds so much better than the stock (garbage) unit and the wife is happy since she doesn't appreciate the Fabspeed "music" as much as I do

Can I ask where you decided to mount the microphone, and how it performs?

Cheers.

I don't have that radio, but I mounted my mic above the driver side sunvisor in the A-pillar. That location works very well, even in my cabriolet.

So I had the BOSE MOST and the CDR-23 and I went with the same head unit and LOVE the way it looks and functions. I have been dealing with alternator whine though, I am almost to the point of trying to redo the wiring to see if I can get rid of it.

No weird noises with your setup?

I haven't noticed any whining (my exhaust is a little loud though so it might drown it out). Engine noise through the speakers is usually a loose ground wire, from what I remember.
