Default Starting to like my car

I bought this '04 C4S with 42k miles and didn't really care for it. Service records back to day one. New engine and clutch in '13 with the unserviceable IMSB, really the only reason I considered buying it, Swapped some new wheels, tires ans my friend painted my rotor hats. Previous owner maintained it by the book, brake flushes etc. It was tough coming from a 1000 RWHP Hellcat, Everything feels so slow.Thank god it's growing on me,

Honest question, why buy it if you didn't like it? The car looks and sounds like a winner, I get it doesn't have 1000 hp but its also not the same type of car.

Looks amazing! Pretty sure this would decimate the Hellcat in the twisties. 1000hp would be a nightmare on a canyon road.

Do you just want to go super fast in a straight line? Or do you want a car to have to learn to drive, but if you do, will stomp the Hellcat at the track. Both are fun, just different cars.

Congrats on your car, it (and your garage!) look amazing! I agree that the more you drive it, the better it gets. As for acceleration, you could do some small things to help (engine tune, sprint booster, etc.) or bigger things (FSI 3.8) in the long run. Also, if you haven't already, a day at the track for an HPDE with your car will forever change your view of it's performance.

Was your Hellcat modded for 1000hp? Nothing will match that in a straight line, but I would expect you would find the 996 a lot more fun in the twisties. If you are an HP junkie, then probably a 996 Turbo would have been a much more appropriate choice. Also bear in mind that the C4S 6-speed, at 3411 lbs, weighs about 500 lbs more then a C2/6-speed/Coupe (2900 lbs (.1) or 2959 lbs (.2)), so you would get better performance from the lightest model.

What’s a hell cat? It’s a dodge product that wants to put you into a tree every chance it gets

Nice car.
As a former Drag racer(long time ago) I understand your initial impression.
But as the OP stated, take your your 996 to an HPDE.
It will let you really appreciate how well these cars are designed and built.
Not to mention Fun/$$$ ratio

At one time all I did was drag race. Then I started autocrossing, then I did a few track days.... now I prefer a light responsive car with a reasonable power to weight ratio. I’m also older and more sane. People change and so does taste in cars.
