91 Octane or 93 with ethanol
I don’t want to jinx myself. I use regular fuel in my carb’d mustang, 2 stroke outboards, lawn tractor, generator, chainsaw, etc. Etc. Never any issue.....luckily. Regular 87 octane in Canada has ethanol. 91 Octane at the retailers I frequent does not ethanol. 93 octane, has ethanol.
So, what should I use in 996?
91 no ethanol or 93 with ethanol?

E5 and E10 has been used in Europe for a long time now, (mainly since 2000), so these engines are ready for working with them without problem. I think that it is more important to use the higher octane possible (93 in this case)

The only auto manufacturers to specifically approve use of E15 are Porsche (on models built since 2001), and Ford and General Motors, which have approved its use on flex-fuel vehicles built in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Pretty much all fuel where I live (Chicago) can contain up to 10% ethanol. So there’s 8 million people using that fuel blend. If it were me, I’d pick the 91 without ethanol, but I’m guessing it doesn’t matter much.

I don't think I have that choice in New York. At least I've never seen it.

So, since I'm in Canada (Toronto), choice is limited between Esso, Ultramar, Husky, Shell, PetroCanada and Costco. Strangely, the only trucks I ever see delivering fuel at any of these stations is Seaboard Transport. The only fuel depot that I am aware of is in north Toronto. Ultramar and Husky I consider to be second rate gas and usually have less expensive pricing. As a rule, I get gas at Costco. Closest station too me and is always about 40 cents cheaper per gallon (10 cents /litre). Since there is only one depot and only one fuel transporter is the greater Toronto area, am I to assume that all fuel is actually the same? It surprises me that in doing internet searches, I have yet to see any consistent comments about the ethanol content at these gas stations. So, I guess I will fill up at Esso with their 93 octane and ethanol and focus on the octane content rather than the ethanol issue.
Thoughts?

Locally, Shell 91 VPower + is the only ethanol free gas. There is a noticeable drop in power for my car between Esso 93 and Shell 91. I don't notice an improvement in gas mileage on the 91.

Gentlemen,
This has been discussed many times over the years over on bobistheoilguy.com, where lots of petrochemical geniuses lurk and post.
Short story: Ethanol robs your engine of power (even ones made for it). Always choose ethanol free if you can.
Don't know about Canada, never been there, but here in the great country of Texas, my go-to choice is Chevron premium. I've only seen Ethanol free fuel at a few places for over $4 a gallon, so I don't go there.

You can check in with: https://www.pure-gas.org/
That site will help you locate all the ethanol free gas stations in the country. I have their app for my iPhone as well.
