RIP My 996

Sorry to hear about your car, OP. Unfortunate but looks like you will be back on the road with a nice car!
I'm a little confused. How does your accident have anything to do with his? You think every accident will result in what you just experienced?

It depends. Normally, if the preliminary estimate is more than a certain percentage of the car's value (generally 60 to 70%, but it varies), the insurance company totals the car. However, lots of variables come into play. It's a chess game, if you do it right. I got 33k for my car, satisfied with that.
P.S. How the heck does someone from Spain, here less than two years, have such good English grammar?

Did you have to negotiate?
Where there value add ons?
I have asked my Allstate agent about the totalled value of my 996 and my wife's older Jaguar VDP, and he cannot give me a number?
The collision premium keeps gping up every year as the cars keep getting older?

This has all been quite an ordeal, looking forward to getting it behind me. Not looking forward to the 991 forum topics such as what color of deviated stiching is the best, or if I should I get the key painted for $350.

I'm glad you were able to make lemonade from the lemons you were dealt. After you get tired of discussing the merits of Grey Poupon on the 991 forum, come back and spend some time with the 996 guys.

Hey, glad it worked out ok. I think you did fine economically, but sad your joy was damaged. I wasn't interested in a auto or I might have done something with it. Enjoy the new ride, and don't let the 991 bastards keep you down!

Damn, not seeing the pics of the sapphire 991! One of my favorite current colors. Post up some pics!

Great recovery!
Happy to say that California Highway Patrol has started implementing a new radar gun that not only records speed but also whether you were texting at the time you were speeding! Turns out text messages go out at a certain frequency that is easily captured.
The fines for texting while driving are not yet announced but will be severe. Makes me happy!
The new system is already in use on the "Tesla Highway" (Highway 280 between San Francisco and San Jose).

I work for an multinational company, so English writing is something that I have been doing for "a while"
Do you guys have any recommendation regarding insurance company for these kind of cars? When I arrived here (no credit history) just few companies were open to insurance my cars (2017 Ford Edge and 2017 Mustang), and I ended in progressive because they had reasonable pricing and coverage (quite expensive in comparison with EU though). For the Porsche, I have made the insurance also with them, with similar coverage, but I don't know if that is the best option for an "old" car with quite high value.

Many thanks for both! , the explanation about insurances (It's amazing how different things can be from country to country)... and the compliment about my grammar (I can tell you that it is far away from good, yet).
