will 17 inch wheels fit over the large brake calipers on a 996 c4s or turbo?

I'm pretty sure you need 18s. Porsche recommends 18x8 in the front and 18x10 in the rear for winter rims. I have this setup with Pirelli 240 Snowsports and the car has amazing traction...no need for 17s in that regard IMO.

The 17's will NOT fit a C4S, will not clear the calipers
For anyone thats interested I have a set of 17's for sale with snow tires.
Front: 215/45/R17 Michelin X-M+S 330 only 25%worn
Rear: 255/40/R17 Michelin Pilot Alpin
Came off 99 996
A little curb rash on 2 wheels.
Real Cheap...taking up space. I don't drive my 02 C4S in the winter. I have a 2004 Volvo V70R...300HP, 6 speed, turbo, AWD, same brembo calipers as the Porsche!

'Difference Engine' is correct............17" is not the issue at all, it's offset (and the particular wheel design). Turbo caliper clearance is an issue (to be kept in mind) with 19" wheels, 18" wheels, etc.
I run winter 17s on the C4 & the Turbo.......18s on the track.......19s for 'show'.

@Difference Engine & @GreggT - I know it's been 10 years, however, I'm interested in this. Do you recall the wheel width, offset, and spacers you needed to run 17" rims on your C4S & 996TT?

Back in the day, I only ran 17's as my winter fitments on 8J wheels.....spaced out (especially in the back) basically so they looked good.

Got it, I read the title as referring to the turbo OE red calipers w/ 330mm rotors. Did the 17" 8J fit over the brakes in the front or did you have to go narrower with spacers?
