Take it from me. Don't sell your Porsche
It's been about a year and a half since I sold my beloved 996.
I miss it EVERY DAY.
Take it from me - don't sell.
I am now on the hunt for a 997 or 996 Turbo.
Ugh.

Ok I won't sell. I have 3 Porsche's, a 99 Coupe, a 99 CAB and an 02 986. I have 3 kids, so I will put them in my Will. lol

Great advice! I had an 82 SC coupe that I sold to get a downpayment on my house. Of course if I had moved the family into a mobile home, I would now have 2 911s. I will never sell my 99 coupe. The long term plan is to add a 996 C4 convertible before the prices get out of hand.

timely advice; I've been considering selling my 33k original mile 99 aero because my wife and kids want a backyard pool

Im selling my house with pool and buying a new house with no pool! Even in TX you can only use it 6 months a year. Also did you know a pool pump will likely double your utility bills? Enjoy....

Bought a 1980 SC for $8,000 about 12 years ago. Sold it a few years later for $7,500. Was not at the same point in my life as I was now to put the work into it that it needed. Now that I see how SC prices have skyrocketed, I kick myself every day.

I really have a bad case of automotive ADD, meaning I switch vehicles like the wind blows. Currently dealing my 2014 BMW 328d XDrive for a 2015 640i Gran Coupe XDrive. Had tons of E90 3 series and I have to say they really ruined the sportiness with the lame suspension and steering in the F30, and the interior quality took a dive too.
Anyway, near the end of last year, I was considering selling my 996 Cab and searching out a 996 Turbo. I decided to do every maintenance item on it over the winter the and now I have had it out a few times this spring as weather has permitted. I am sticking with it, car puts a grin on my face with every corner and every shift. Gundo hack, 200 cell Top Gear cats, car goes like a scalded cat. No need for a turbo.

I get it. I had and 82 SC Targa, missed it within an hour after selling it and it took me 6 more years before I picked up my 99C2. I've had it listed to sell since I worry about having a 20 year old car needing expensive repairs, household with teenagers that no longer fit in the back seats, etc... and now have someone who is potentially interested. But at the same time I know that I don't really want to sell it and will miss it if I do.

look at it as an opportunity to get a 996 Turbo I have a 2000 cab and a 2003 Turbo coup the only way I am getting rid of either would be to upgrade to a 996 Turbo cab or a 996 turbo S cab
I am going to put a lot of miles on both of mine before I can justify making a change but I have been looking at Craigslist and auto trader almost everyday (I think it is compulsive behavior )
