Default First Drive of the Year

Took it out yesterday in Chicago.....I absolutely love this car, how it looks, how it handles, the power and the sound of the Fister exhaust!

Last night/this morning it snowed a few inches in Chicago.....LOL.

Looking good! I also had my Aero out yesterday. I'm also thinking about adding a fister exhaust.

Awesome, Paul. I’ve been driving mine year round, although not too much. Just turned 56,000 miles, so I put on 8,000 in 15 months. So far so great. It was in the snow maybe 3 times, and was quite fun in the neighborhood when we had maybe 3” on the ground before it was plowed and salted. Honestly, my C2 has more trouble stopping/braking than starting/acceleration in the snow.

Mike-

Have yet to see you driving around town! I have to admit that I've been thinking about a convertible sports car with an automatic for the wife.....a boxster comes to mind....but then I think why not a 996.1? They are cheap and plentiful!

I need another car like I need a hole in my head. I don't think I've said anything to anybody, but I bought a CO2 blaster unit in February and am going to start using it at my brother's business in Maywood. Going to do the Audi's first, then my 911.....and once I get up to speed going to do my 951 and then start doing cars for others. Maybe we do a little practice on your car also if you want.....

Paul,

If you don’t need the rear seats, I miss my old 2000 Boxster S and would have gone that route over a 911. It’s mid-engined, a little simpler and easier to maintain, still has 911 brakes and makes good power, mine had a double row IMSB, and the car was less expensive to purchase.

Whats the CO2 blaster and how does it work?

I've had mine listed and might have someone interested in it, but seeing this post makes me secondguess the whole thing. Just getting ready to turn 90k on the odometer and with a 20 year old car(mine is an early 98 build date) my concern is always with things breaking and requiring a lot of money to fix/keep it running. Just curious how many items have broken/needed replacing on yours ?

Nothing has “broken and needed fixing” per se’. I’ve done a lot of preemptive maintenance in the past 3 and a half years. Most of it needed to be done at some point, and I prioritized according to my personal preference. I started with the suspension, did some engine work last year (including “the solution IMSB”, and just finished some much needed sheet metal work a couple weeks ago. It’s cost me a little over $10k in parts, all the labor has been mine.

Wow! Your car is nothing less than stunning! Early aero cars are just plain beautiful.
