It's not possible unless you have the keys original code - you don't need to program the key but rather program the car to interact with the key as well as well as program the immobiliser pill.

There is someone on here that claims they can re-code used keys - personally i'd pay the $175 its not that much in the grand scheme of things... If you're scared of $175 for a key you're in for a turbulent ride owning a 996 IMO...

I have 928 951 and 996, repairing them is a hobby, but I understand and agree with what you are saying

Nice one, fair enough, I stand corrected - you'd know the drill then!

Does anyone know of an independent shop in the Seattle area that can program the key fobs? I’m in need of that being done right now.

Thanks

Have you given Gerber Motorsports a call? Not all independent shop have the capability to program Porsche keys. You may have to take it to Porsche of Bellevue. I just had this done my self. Expect to pay around $400 - $500 per keyfob.

Smuko, I sent a message to your email, but it bounced back. Is it still active? I sent it on Friday.

Smuko, you can recreate a 24 character code from a used Fob and program it to an immobilizer/alarm control? Electronics Guru >>

Someone else was asking about this too, I think it went something along the lines of the alarm module can read the keys code but then PIWIS masks the part of the 24 hex but its still recorded. So you can get it out of PIWIS you just need to know where it is recorded to revel it.

I'm going to look into it eventually, I have a Java background (it's what PIWIS is built on).

Would be nice if our friend shared his findings but he has a commercial interest he's protecting I'm guessing. Guess I'm ok with that as he figured it out...

I need nothing at this time, I am sorry if I confused the situation. I just meant that was awfully decent of you to offer your assistance no charge to others in need. It was a compliment to you sir
