Cab top
May be in need of a new cab top, The current one is gray but starting to turn brown and is pretty dried out from the dry climate here. original from 2002. no tears, but a few scuffs. couple questions, is there a good way to bring an older top back to reasonable condition or is replacement time coming? if replacement time, what should I budget for this? OEM from Porsche or are there good aftermarket tops?
thanks.
thanks.

Try RaggTopp first.
Replacement tops from GAHH.

Thanks, I'll give RaggTopp a try first.
GAHH says about 10 hrs to install a new top, is this a reasonable DIY or is it complicated and needing special tools/skills? The existing headliner and rear window are in good condition so can be reused.

It is NOT a diy project unless you want to pull your hair out, throw away the expensive top you bought and constantly look at that mess. If the fabric is still good try a convertible top specialist to see if it’s can be restored. Being 16 yrs old in the desert I’d say new top time. Budget $4k+/- for a as new top. You can go cheaper but you might be sorry.

After mulling over the 10 hr estimate for a top i was coming to the same conclusion that it would omly take me 80 hrs and two tops. There is an outstanding top shop in town that I'm sure could do an install. Is GAHH still a good source? I'll call the Porsche dealer for a price too. I'm sure there are other "while you are in there" things to do, like rubber seals? Both motors are new.
I'm going to try restoring it first.

Yeah, Porsche dealership estimated $5,000, plus whatever "while you are in there" stuff like new headliner, rubber, etc. A great upholstery shop said about $800-1000 labor plus GAHH top of about $1100. GAHH headliner $720. So about half of the dealership cost. So indi shop it is!.

When you get your new top, coat it right away with RaggTopp, and then again every-other year.

Good advice! Keep that baby fresh! Between the bright sun and dry climate and snow where I live, will probably be doing it every year.

Not a bad plan, at all. When you see it stop beading light water, coat it. NEVER wash with soap (except right before coating, with the RaggTopp Cleaner). Use a sticky tape roller every few days.

Thanks, I know other cab owners who swear by RaggTop. it will be my car prep box when I get my cab. Esp if I have to replace the top. I mean, "when" I have to replace the top.
