Default Coolant Mix in Oil Filler Neck

I've been pretty religious about my oil changes and monitoring the car's temps since buying my 996 and have recently started to notice what appears to be a slight mixture of oil/coolant in the oil filler next. Both my last 2 oil analyses appear clear, and I just changed the oil and it also looks clear. I'll wait for the analysis to come back but everything seems fine - temps, oil pressure, etc. Anyone had this experience? Is it a sign of impending head issues or a blown gasket somewhere?

It's normal and nothing to worry about. Just drive some long distance and it should go away. Cool and humid weather will promote the formation of this "mayo".

Post a picture of what you see. It sounds pretty normal and nothing to be worried about especially this time of year.

You should keep an eye on it. Beyond head issues it could be block porosity that happens in some of the early high mileage engines.

If it's just a little creamy residue , it's caused by oil mist mixing with a little water condensation in the oil cap and neck . The filler neck is pretty long and prone to condensation
its most common on city cars that don't go for a long enough run to get the engine good and hot .
.short city hops contribute greatly .

clean it out , increase your oil change frequency , go for longer runs , and a little wd40 inside the cap.

I get the goo when it's cool out. Just make sure you periodically do long drives to evaporate the water & it shouldn't be an issue.

I remember when I saw this right after I bought my car and almost had a cow, thinking it was intermix. Was just from a couple startups in the cold and not warming up. After a good run it disappeared.

I remember doing the same thing, I may have even started To thread about it on here eeep! Went on a nice 400km road trip this weekend, probably got rid of whatever mayo was forming. Traded mayo buildup for some nice stone chips... Woot

I drive a good hour both ways for work in this, both in traffic and at highway speeds. I'm putting about 4k miles on the car every 1.5 months, its a low mileage car though since it only had 30k on it when purchased. Sounds normal then - if I hadn't seen clean oil during the change yesterday I would have been more panic'd, but seems normal.
