I think subaru has been running the same EJ engines in STI WRX's for the better part of 10 years, so I'd think there are many floating around given all the morons who total/smash these cars trying to pull off all sorts of silly stuff

KEP said that the position of the starter on the 996 prevents any type of mating to the WRX STI motors with an adapter plate

There is a company that makes a reveresed ring gear and pinion for the subaru transmission.

Thanks for the info. A $4500 roller came up but I hesitated due to the upcoming Money season *cough*, i mean, Christmas season. It is gone now.

wife wants to go somewhere hot, and I owe that to her for all the **** she's had to put up with me and my machines. Lol
