Default Hard Top

Picking up a used hard top for my '99 996 this weekend. Rather not take the car.
Think it will fit into my '14 Acura MDX? Anyone try to squeeze one in a SUV?

Thanks, I saw the size and the SUV's opening is a little over an inch smaller. It might angle in. I guess I'll bring tie downs in case it needs to go on the roof rack. It's been in a barn for a while so I don't think it's perfect.

I am guessing that you already triple checked: your car's mounts & hardtop's "pins" are compatible.

But to be 100% sure, I vote that you drive your car to pick up the hardtop. Then test fit the top to car (bring the wrench) AND function check the rear defroster/defogger. Then drive home in a "coupe"

P.S. Other pieces you will need (in case you did not already know):
* cover for front latch
* grille cover for rear mounts (post #9 in link below)
* plastic "liner" for holes BEFORE top is installed (post #1 in link below)

Thanks for the links! I'm taking a chance on this. Got it for $100 so I have some room for parts if needed.

It does not fit in my Crosstour but Crosstour has a slanted back and it is not high enough. Not sure if that give you any idea...

The size and shape of it make it a little tricky to move around. I hope you have enough people on hand.

Good to know. I'll bring moving blankets and tie downs in case it goes on the roof rack. The seller isn't too helpful. Haven't been able to get much info except for a couple of blurry pictures.

My Cargo Vessel is a 2012 MDX. Based on some not-very-scientific measurements, I did not think the hardtop would fit. When I went to pick up my hardtop I rented a F150 pickup from Enterprise. Whatever vehicle you use, a couple cheap Harbor Freight moving blankets are a good idea. I used a few ratchet straps to keep everything in place on the drive home.

FYI... A hardtop will not fit in a 2014 Acura MDX. Not even close. It will, and did, fit on the roof rack though. Thanks all.

Glad to hear you managed to get it home ... $100 is a major score. I'll probably clean up my hardtop this weekend and put it on the car sometime in the next week or two.

When you have had the hard top off for a while it is amazing how much quieter the car is when the hard top is mounted.
