Default Brake Booster Pump

After 8.5 years I finally found out about how to quiet the howling brake booster pump. Porsche incorporated an upgrade for 97 and has a kit for the 96. Has anyone done this to their car and did it work well? I ordered the parts and will check back in after I install them.

Finally installed the kit, among a lot of other things, and it was completely effective at quieting the pump howl.

Do you have a part number for the kit? I have the same problem.
Thanks

Sounds great! Can you do a write up on how you changed everything? Or did you have it done. I'm assuming that the plumbing is not that hard, but a hammer is probably needed during the final bleeding process.

Let me start by the TSB application-cars built before 14 July 95, serial# 375468 and older. The TSB is real handy to refer to, especially the diagrams. You essentially replace a long hydraulic line with two shorter ones with a damper in between. The assembly then weighs more, so stiffer bushings are needed to support it. Plumbing the longer of the two lines was kind of tough, as it winds behind and through several things and has to be bent into place, then rebent into the original shape. Bleeding wasn't too bad. The TSB says to use a computer(Hammer?) to manipulate the ABS block, but I just hooked my Griot's Garage fluid sucker to the bleeder on the pressure accumulator in the trunk and ran the booster motor. Definitely as worthwhile project for early build Turbos and C4Ss.

Thanks in Advance.

Your local Porsche dealer will have it in the service department. It's in the TSB compilation book L starting on page 75. If they are buttheads about copying it for you let me know and I'll make a trip to Kinkos and mail it.
