Default WTB modified blk/blk turbo...help

guys,

i've been on rennlist for a long time and have had a couple 993s....a '95 and a '97c4s. i thought i wanted a newer car but i just can't seem to pull the trigger. i've been looking for a 996 or 997 gt3 but can't find the "right" one. i've never really gotten the 993 outta my system...here's what i'm looking for:

blk/blk with sport seats. front bumperete deletes is a major plus. i'd prefer a car with suspension and turbo upgrades, but if not, that's cool too.

i'd prefer to buy from a rennlister.

thanks for any help you can give.

What mileage are you looking for? It would be helpful to mention that and of course the price range that you have in mind.

just like any 993, i'd prefer to buy the car with the least amount of miles for the the lowest price. but...i like follow the general rule of thumb for these cars...$100,000 minus the mileage.

is that a good starting point?

Just my opinion, but that rule of thumb seems low for a 993 Turbo, especially for ones with over 40K, which is probably the vast majority of them. I'm guessing you should be expecting to pay $55K-$70K for a decent example with 50k-90k miles, but remember this is from an owner of an NA 993.

Nope.

I dunno where you got that "general rule" from; it's a nice thought but not really based in any market price reality.

You're not gonna find a 35K mile 993TT in good shape for $65K, for example.

Good luck with your search.

Agreed 100%. There is no way in hell I'd sell my '97 TT (which is black/black with sport seats BTW) with 57K miles for $43,000 !

Kick that "general rule" out the window. It's useless.

Makes sense.

Swing by with a check for $12,400 and you can have my 96.

I may have just the modded tt that you're looking for. The only problem is that I'd have to pay you $1,000.
to take it off my hands with that equation.
Sorry to pile on, but the rule doesn't work for me either.

Yeah, crap - we're in km up here!! Hope the same formula doesn't work for kilometerage. Poor bugger - hasn't even started looking yet and he's getting a lot of abuse!

Gotta harden up the possible Turbo newbies I say!! If not, how do we know if they qualify to learn the secret handshake?

Roche...there are cars out there. Since my WTB posting I have a number of 3 real opportunities to buy just what you are looking for...and one on another colour combination that may have even suitable - but ALL rooted from leads from guys on this site. There are enough cars out there - just be patient.....and ready to say yes when it arrises. It is no more difficult that finding ANY 18 year old car in which you would be that specific in your request to model, colour and quality - maybe even easier because 50% of the cars are reasonably well cared for and LOTS of sources of information and parts. I might suggest that Rennlisters love their cars so much, there is a sense of promoting the values of these cars as going up and up and up - but amongst ourselves.....only to drive the price up and up and up.... amongst oursleves . The threshold seems to be 60k roughish 70k nice 80k amazing....in my shopping $75 K being the sensitivity point both in the US and Canada (particularly Canada!) ....BUT 99% of the guys who love these cars and would pay that sort of freight frequent this board IMHO. Don't kid yourself, you - the guy willing to part with that sort of dough for a third or fourth car in the family - are a highly sought part of this buy-sell process.

I will PM a friend of mine who has precisely the car you are after.....and I think Turbo Dan has his nice Black Black TT still for sale .....just search for his postiing. It is lots of fun to shop for Porsches.

Roche -

I remember your beautiful C4S...

Good luck with your search & I'll be sure to PM you anything I see that may be of interest to you.

As a former C4S owner, I can tell you that it's a different experience & there are a few things you'll miss, but overall the turbo's are phenomenal in comparison.
