Knight,
What Brand of tyre do you have on your steed?
It is possible that a different tyre would also behave differently.
The tech who sorted out my car before me picking it up suggested Bridgestone....
Any opinions?

I've also run 19's Conti DWs on my 987 and was overall impressed as a street only tire - smooth and comfortable too.
Tires are def very subjective based on needs.

you can even have a large difference in ride quality between tires from the same mfg. I went from the OEM Bridgestone S-02A to Bridgestone's RE050A-PP and the ride improved markedly.

Thanks again guys.
The choices for the rears are ltd to a few makes.
For daily rubber I wish Toyo still made their T-1R series tire as I have had good success with them.
Unfortunately not available anymore.
Once again ,what a great source of information from all the folks here!

Hi all,
Got my beauty back home and now have a question re 19 inch vs 18 inch wheels.
I have never driven the car with stock 18 inch wheel tire combo so I can only comment on the 19 inch Techart, Pirelli P Zero Rosso combo on the car...
On our good old Canadian roads with pot holes ,expansion joints etc there is a fair amount of judder and shock through the car with the 19 inch tires....1000 miles in the last 4 days (lowered the cold pressures to 40 psi rear and 32 psi front, which did help some)
Also the one rear tire`s bead shifted and it needs to be replaced(cannot be balanced at all)
I am considering selling the Techart Pirelli combo and then get some nice 18 inch wheels and different tires...
I love the look of the Techart wheels though!
I am wondering also if going to a different tire would help.
Any guidance comments and pointers appreciated!

Running Sumi III's on RUF 19's - works fine for me, ride is not harsh. The ride is much better than when I had the same wheels/tires on the Targa - likely because the Targa had PSS-9's/RS bars, and this car is stock suspension with Eibach springs.
Mark is right about a bit of heaviness but I think the AWD adds even more heaviness than the wheels - that I noticed big time between the C2 and C4/C4S/Turbo. First time I drove long distance in a C4S my arm was noticeably more tired than on the C2 - and that was with light rims.
cheers,
Mike

Hey Mark, I hope you have an extra hour or so every-time you wash the car to clean every through-bolt... :-)
I guess that might balance the time I spend washing the entire INSIDES of the RUF wheels on every wash, since I can reach them. On those wheels, no way to get your hands inside.
Cheers,
Mike

my 19" HREs with Contis and equivilent of pss9 produces a perfect look and ride (I am happy with the grip and my wife will gladly ride in it and never mentioned the rough ride). The 19s fill in the wheel well perfectly.
