19 inch vs 18 inch wheels for 993 turbo
Hi all,
Got my beauty back home and now have a question re 19 inch vs 18 inch wheels.
I have never driven the car with stock 18 inch wheel tire combo so I can only comment on the 19 inch Techart, Pirelli P Zero Rosso combo on the car...
On our good old Canadian roads with pot holes ,expansion joints etc there is a fair amount of judder and shock through the car with the 19 inch tires....1000 miles in the last 4 days (lowered the cold pressures to 40 psi rear and 32 psi front, which did help some)
Also the one rear tire`s bead shifted and it needs to be replaced(cannot be balanced at all)
I am considering selling the Techart Pirelli combo and then get some nice 18 inch wheels and different tires...
I love the look of the Techart wheels though!
I am wondering also if going to a different tire would help.
Any guidance comments and pointers appreciated!

I would consider lowering your tire pressure quite a bit more to say 34F/36R and see what you think of the ride then. Tire choice itself can make a big difference too.

The lighter 19" rims you have might be fine and so you may just have to do some battle with suspension modification.
Good luck.

I sold my 19" RUF boat anchors ASAP. (They do look nice and are easy to clean though, I'll give 'em that.)
I know my car is far outside what can be achieved on a somewhat normal car, but my 335 x 18 Rear and 265 x 18 Front on BBS E88 with RS uprights and PSS9 is the best riding 993 I have EVER been in.

JB993... what size tires are you using? I have VERY SHORT 255x30x19 and 315x25x19, and the ride is a bit harsh... just the way I like it. I could smooth it out a bit with taller tires. Maybe someday.

Thanks for the replies!
Tyre sizes 305-25-19 rear and 255-30-19 front...
The front bushings replaced with Sport bushings prior to me getting the car(the old ones were cracked)
4 wheel alignment done and the car tracks fine (with less tram lining than expected)
Perhaps I could set the PSS 9`s a little softer as well for more compliance(not sure re the spring rates on those either, as I cannot change that)
Obviously more sidewall will give me more compliance as well.
The issue also is that with the one rear tire being toast, the whole car was affected with all the hopping going on at 60+ miles per hour.
Perhaps I can go to a 30 side wall on the rears..(need to replace the one tyre anyway
I really appreciate the input here as I am new to the 993 P-Car scene (but not new to sports cars..I have a 2006 Miata also, that is heavily modified ,supercharged ,stiffer FM suspension etc)

I think you can fit the big brakes under certain 18 inch wheels. BBS E88 for example....
Michelin PS2 335.30.18 and 265.40.19 to keep the front's slightly larger than the rears to keep the viscous coupler pre-loaded like stock. (I am a real stickler for that since i've had to replace 2 VCs, one on Frank and one on The Guap.)
Also the car handles better. Where is my flame suit for the 2wd brigade....
Javier it would be great to see you again!

Scott, Scott, Scott. Not everyone is nutty enough to chop off their fenders to mount such wide wheels and tires. But you are right on one part... I've also heard that certain 18" wheels will fit over the GT1 or in my case, RSR brakes. But I love the look of the 19" Ruf wheels, and their weight doesn't bother me a whit.
And who is Becky?
