I was looking for a 3.6 and subsequently bought a TT.
- The TT is much more linear - nothing compares to the mono-turbo lag - I like that effect although I do not miss it since I have had the TT.
- Looks: very personnal choice there - I did not like the 964 generation until I drove a friend's 3.3 Turbo. With the 993, you lose a bit of the classic shape. I love the way my TT looks though.
- Maintenance: not sure what's worse between a 965 and a TT ...

Looks like you went for a 965 - it is a great car - would love to own one - would also love a 930 ...

I am still in shock with the brutal acceleration I get out of my car. No, I haven't driven a 5000 hp drag car but for street use this is a real beast. I do think about other cars but I always come back to feeling that this is the best sports car for me - looks, power, handling, road holding, timelessness ..... ok not gas mileage and not the purchase price but wow.... it just has sooooooo much.

On a semi-serious note:

****e stock valve guides.
Weak door check straps
Original suspension so-so

The following things will have to be replaced at regular intervals:
Hood/deck lid raising shock thingys.
Steering racks
Accumulators

Can be heavy on the consumables depending on how you drive:
Brake pads
Tyres. (lots of tyres)

2. Understeer. In stock form, in my experience, the car plows...badly, especially with the sky high rear tire pressure. You need to get an aftermarket suspension and some adjustable bars, along with lower tire pressure to dial it out. Before all the track guys jump on me, no I don't track the car, but I find it obvious just from aggressive street driving.

3. Power. yes, its a quick car, but unless you do a hard launch, the car doesn't feel that quick. This is all relative of course, but you'd expect a bit more grunt...or at least I would/did.

4. The bloody intercooler needs to come off for just about every repair.

5. Heavy heavy heavy. A small car like this should not weigh nearly 3300lbs.

6. Turbo specific motor parts (heads particularly) are very expensive, even in comparison to standard 993 stuff.

Thats about it. Its a fun car, its relatively quick, has good brakes, and handles decent. Is it all I expected it to be from the posters on the wall and the articles in magazines...quite frankly no, but that doesn't mean I don't still enjoy it as a tool for sporty driving.
I think you're spot on Quadcammer. I still love mine though.

Not so nimble feeling w/ awd.
Short wheelbase is a handful driving 10/10 at the track.
Stock suspension not so good above 155mph.
Driving one causes elevated adrenaline levels which may be unhealthy.

I love the 964 based cars as well. It's certainly a toss up between the 3.6T and the TT. I went for the TT but you can't go wrong with those two IMHO. Congrats .

There are many reasons... foremost the overall classic body shape (the rear end particularly as depicted in your avatar )
Note, I have mod'd mine with a Protomotive 16g, EBC, RS suspension, PSS9's, LWFW, so the power is quite engaging.

For sure the 4.0 is way more of a track weapon but the TT has it's place in my garage as a keeper.

I was a bit surprised to the greater maintenance than my 993 C4S. I needed to install rebuilt turbos and from Kevin's advice, the turbo requires more care than the NA variants. (Warm up and cool down.) But the 400 hp is amazing. There is no design quite like the wide body 993. Everytime I walk into my garage I smile and think how fortunate I am. It's a beautiful car.
