Nov 16, 2017 04:26 AMHi Andreas,
Thank you for your mail and apologies, I have not visited the site for some time and just noticed your message. Did you already find a 993/964? If not please let me know and share your email address.
Thanks -
Sep 25, 2017 11:36 AMHi Joe,
I arrived in Tokyo a months ago and have been searching for 993 / 964 since then. Mostly I find issues with lack of proper documentation (so not even the regular 2 year check is properly documented) and also most of the cars have unfortunately TipTronic and not manual. Is there anyway we can communicate via email - maybe you have some tips on shops I did not yet check out.
Thanks

Jun 17, 2016 11:00 PMHi Steffen,
Congratulations on your turbo from Japan, I expect it is in very good condition. Cars are checked every 2 years for their road worthiness by a garage - but even if you have the VIN no. and date of registration, unless you live here and bring proof of ownership of the car, you cannot find information on owner history etc. Your only source of information will be the service manual but I expect that even for a car from Japan, 1976 data will not be available. Sorry I cannot help you more on this but hope you can enjoy your car!
Cheers,
TJ -
Jun 9, 2016 12:27 PMHi Joe, we are a proud owner of a 911 Turbo from Japan, registration in Japan on 15.09.1976, VIN 9306700040, is there a way to find out more about the history of this Porsche in Japan, I have learned that the car is checked every 2 years by government, any support are very welcome. Jun 3, 2016 10:55 AMHi Gerd,
Thank you for your mail and my apologies for the delay, I've only just checked my mail. When you buy an air cooled 911 in Japan, even if you have the service history documents, you will not be able to get more information on the car from the dealer - because they don't keep documents back to the 1990's.
You can only study the service history book to see what work has been done on the car. If you want to know about previous owners, it is even more difficult to find information but it is possible. For example, only if you are the registered owner of the car with all the proof of ownership documents, can you look into it's owner history. I did go through this process, and discovered my car sat in a showroom for 6 years waiting for a buyer to come along!
So if you want help with your service book, I may be able to help you but for dealer specific information, there will be no records - I know, I've tried myself!
Best

May 22, 2016 02:21 PMHi TJ
Sorry to disturb you with a few questions
I'm located in Belgium and want to buy a Porsche 964 Year 1993 in the UK with very low km's(miles)
The private seller imported the car from Japan to UK
there is a service book from Porsche with the car with normally the full history on it
but saddenly the dealership on this document is written in Japanese
If I now the dealership in Japan I can send them e-mail for more information about this car
hope you can help me to translate this service book and find out more from the history off this car
best regards from Belgium and hope to hear from you

Aug 22, 2014 09:58 AMHi TJ,
If you would be so kind as to send me your e-mail address I would like to forward you the rego document and previous owner list document to you, I have copies both in Japanese and English and was hoping you may be able to help find out which dealership my car was delivered to new using the information I will provide you. As my car had been exported the Tokyo District Transport Bureu were able to release all documentation !
Hope to hear from you again soon,
Best regards,
Chris Heal

Jul 30, 2014 12:00 PMHi Chris,
Thank you for your note and congrats on your car - mine's a 1990 version in slate grey, is yours LHD? Unfortunately just a VIN no alone won't help me find out more on your car for a number of reasons. I'd need the rego docs for when it was in Japan and then I'd have some chance of tracking its history down but even then, I'd need to prove I am the owner of the car. I've gone through this process for my car and it was a pia of form filling but I could do it as I was the owner. For these older cars, it's nigh on impossible especially when they've left Japan. Sorry for that news! -
Jul 29, 2014 09:13 AMHi Joe,
I was wondering if you would be so kind as to help me find some info on my Japan delivered 1991 slate grey metallic Porsche 964 vin no - WPOZZZ96ZMS402114.
I am in Australia and understand that rarely is a service book sold with a second hand Japanese car,
any help would be greatly appreciated, which dealership the car was sold from etc,
Kind regards and I hope to hear from you soon,
Christopher Heal

Dec 26, 2013 11:49 PMHi TJ,
Would you happen to know of any 993 owners clubs or weekend drive events in the Tokyo area for Porsche owners? I'd love to attend some of these gatherings but not sure where to start.
Thanks,
Peter
