Could someone tell me something BAD about 993TTs

sure.
1. The steering feel, if you're used to 2wd cars and especially the non-power steering cars, is not quite as good. The wheel feels damped a bit in your hands. Its not a buick, but its not as sharp. This is fixable to some extent.
2. Understeer. In stock form, in my experience, the car plows...badly, especially with the sky high rear tire pressure. You need to get an aftermarket suspension and some adjustable bars, along with lower tire pressure to dial it out. Before all the track guys jump on me, no I don't track the car, but I find it obvious just from aggressive street driving.
3. Power. yes, its a quick car, but unless you do a hard launch, the car doesn't feel that quick. This is all relative of course, but you'd expect a bit more grunt...or at least I would/did.
4. The bloody intercooler needs to come off for just about every repair.
5. Heavy heavy heavy. A small car like this should not weigh nearly 3300lbs.
6. Turbo specific motor parts (heads particularly) are very expensive, even in comparison to standard 993 stuff.
Thats about it. Its a fun car, its relatively quick, has good brakes, and handles decent. Is it all I expected it to be from the posters on the wall and the articles in magazines...quite frankly no, but that doesn't mean I don't still enjoy it as a tool for sporty driving.

They are primitive, uncomfortable and slow compared to a 997. I keep thinking of selling mine. Then I go out to the garage and remember it's one of the most timeless and beautiful cars ever made. The UPS girl has better curves, but only barely.

I received an unsolicited inquiry from my wrench who has another client looking for a 993TT. I thought about the possibility of selling the car for about 30 seconds and then said "No thanks".
It's a classic, beautiful, exciting to drive, appreciating (or at least not falling like a rock).
What would I replace it with? A 997GT3 that would cost around $100k and is depreciating pretty seriously? Is that car so much more fun than what I have now? I think not.
The 993TT has been and seems as if it will remain pretty desireable over the longer term. I consider it a keeper.
Now, would I add to my stable. Most definitely!

I have owned a 3.6T and currently have a 993TT. I personally prefer how raw the 3.6T is compared to the 993TT, but the 993TT is much easier to drive fast. The 993TT is also a lot nicer for daily use, has a better a/c and a much better stereo if those things matter to you.
I hated the stock suspension on the 993TT but as others have noted that is an easy and relatively inexpensive fix.
I personally prefer the lines of the 964 bodied turbos but that is completely subjective.
While the 997TT is extremely fast, I would find it boring after a while and end up selling it for a huge loss. The only water cooled Porsche that I find exciting is a GT3 (really any model). All the rest are simply too perfect to be engaging in most street driving situations. The older cars are all really engaging in my opinion even at low speeds.

Still have to drive a 993TT, damn... DAMN!
What appeals to me is what some have said here. I don't think Porsche has ever made a prettier car, ever. Funny, when I first laid eyes on it I wasn't sure. Over the years I sure am!
But I'm with you Anthony, the 3.6 was gorgeous and compelling.

Well, I put a deposit on a 3.6 today, pending careful inspection... the 993TT is prettier, but I'm not a AWD fan and understeer is boring.
I know some feel the 964 is the worst Porsche ever. But for my purposes the 991 fills that bill.
Maybe both a 3.6 and a 993TT?
