Rain gutter delete

I've seen a few cars with the rain gutter taken out. Can someone tell me the extent of the work that goes into it and how much it costs.
It really looks significantly better without it.
TIA
Peter

if you do a search, there should be a few threads discussing it.
it will be pricey.
i like the rain gutter..reminds me of the older cars and is actually effective. You can open the windows after/during a rain storm and not get soaked.

I LOVE the delete... I wish I had done it back when large portions of Rufus were being repainted anyway. The gutter plays a role in holding the roof to the sides. Its a big job to remove... the headliner and some other parts of the interior have to be removed, then about 2,3 inches if gutter can be ground off and welded. Then the next few inches. If you grind off too much, you run the risk of springing the sides away from the roof. Then a major repaint.

Remind me of one guy who desired "sunroof - delete" in his 93TT, turned out to be a sin, per his confession

I never understand why someone would do this.....on the Targa it has no gutters. If the car is wet (just washed or raining), you will have water dripping onto the seats when you open the doors......

I did that to a Datsun 240Z, and it was a great look, but a total pain in the a$$. It was less of a concern about splitting the roof than making sure that you don't have a bunch of waves in the A-pillars (which wouldn't hold filler well over very small amounts).
It does let water in, but for most of our cars, that's not a huge concern.

Here you go. this is how mine was done by a real craftsman ultimately using lead filler for the final finish. I guess other methods and results may vary.
Remember, this is a Porsche "Approved" modification since it is how the factory produced the 959.

I was afraid the task would be as complicated as your pictures show. Perhaps it would be prudent to leave it alone regardless of how nice it looks.
At any rate, thanks for the pictures and replies.
