Default Turbos burning oil

Dear Freinds

I am helping a freind install a 1995 993 twin turbo engine in his 1988 930. We ran into a problem with the engine heavily smoking when after 20 seconds...not imediately. We found the turbos were soaked in oil and also the Intercooler. The turbos were sent out and had the seals replaced but it still smoked. We then replaced the oil filter with the proper filter with a check valve and reduced the oil level. The smoking stopped. We believe the turbo resevoir vent lines are plumbed to the wrong location. They run up and connect to the crank case vent fitting on the top of the engine. This master vent line runs to the tank. But this 4 way connector does not look like the factory connector.

Can someone tell me where these vent line are to be connected: top engine vent line? or connected to the oil tank or connected to the intake manifold.

One last observation: the vent line from the oil tank to the intake manifold was not connected. Our theory is that the only possible cause for oil burning in the engine is that if the high oil level flows back to the top of the engine restricting the turbo vent line. This then causes excess oil pressure in the turbo which may cause oil blow by the seals and oil entering the turbo to be fed to the pistons.

I checked on the component diagrams and can not clearly see where these vent lines are to be connected.

I would appreciate any photos of the proper location of these turbo vent lines.

We also plan to purchase the proper dip stick and tube because the set that came with the engine have been modified so we are not sure of the proper oil level in the oil tank. The oil tank came with the 993 engine and is from a 993 vehicle.

Any help would be appreciated

Best regards

Keith

This might help... The top feed line to the sump just goes to a plastic "T" at the top of the motor.

Thanks Barney

Can you tell me where the vent circuit and hose goes after they connect together at a T? Do you have a photo?

Thanks

It's unlikely the vent line unless you have it submerged in the main engine oil tank.

You can remove the vents lines from the sump tanks and see if OIL comes out while the engine is NOT running.

Remove your sump tank plugs and post how much oil is coming out of them.

Spin another Genuine Porsche engine oil filter on.

Does anyone have a clue or a photo of where these vent lines terminate?

Thanks

The sump vent lines run into 2 seperate tees. These eventually meet up in the CENTER Throttle-body lower chamber.

You have to clean the oil out of the IC, throttle-body, Bypass valves, inlet turbo piping. The car will continue to smoke until all the oil is ingested, puked or burnt.

Kevin - thanks for the response. Do you happen to have a photo of this connection on the manifold?

Thanks
