Main argument for not putting a full cage is that the car is no longer safe to drive on the street unless you want to wear a helmet and harness.

I did it to a car once, ruined it as a street car for me. Would not do it again on a car I planned to drive on the street.

I dont think I will cage it. I plan on 50% track and 50% street. As a compromise I will be repainting the interior yellow and will leave the carpet off.

I spent hours removing the GLUE! What a pain.

Nice work. That is one hell of a project. I can't wait to see it finished.

3M metal adhesive applied to seal all the gaps. One coat of Duraglass.

I will let you know in a few years if this combination of products eliminates cracking.

Fred,

Love it!!!

Keep going - a full cage is a great idea - BUT - will play havoc if you drive on the street..... either way - just make sure you paint it yellow.... I LOVE the look of a coloured cage in a car !

I am doing some finishing bits on my cars interior as we speak - and have the appbiz door trims - the hardware is a bit on the cheap side (handles and pull strap) but you can always upgrade to porsche items

Brave on doing the roof that way - its one thing i wish i had done.... Ohh and a better cage... and a colour change.... and flush rear glass.... and full carpet DELETE and ...... and and...

Simon.

Barney, I do have a DAS roll bar painted yellow. I may use it for now but upgrade to a welded rear half cage.

Simon, I am doing a FULL carpet delete. I have spent almost 20 hours just removing glue and the two tar strips along the tunnel.

Not quite sure what I should do about the carpet delete as it pertains to the headliner. I dont want to use a headliner but I have the pieces from the sunroof showing. Its ugly and needs to be covered. I was thinking of coming up with some kind of bikini headliner.

The last photo below is my inspiration.

Fred,

If you are going that far - spend a bit more and get the OEM Porsche door hardware...... or just fab up some polished aluminium door trims.......

One of my serious "i wish I had done it" was the colour change - I would have then gone full house and stripped the interior like you have.... the issue with black is that it hides all the contours and curves but yellow..... ohh my... drooooool!

Grant - I have had the Appbiz door trim since i finished the car - but just not in this condition.....

Full cage now. Mine is street/track with no carpet, headliner & full cage. Trust me you need it.

Love the effort, big congrats for the ***** to do it to one you drive on the street. Seems to be a lacking of this type around. You and Spartan are on the right track.

Keep us posted, and you're welcome to any Fünf Gruppen Turbopalooza if you happen to be in the NC area.

I'll have to find one of you GT2 conversion whackos when I finally part with my high mileage sunroof delete car.
